Colum this is what I did to the orange bike, but I allso put pumpers on it , If you increase the air flow to much you may upset the vacume to much and the CV bst 33 carbs may play up.
Just this little extra I think won,t hurt with the standard carbs but could just benafit you enogh to make it right and you can do it with the air box still in place with the filter removed then vacume up any plastic left in the box from cutting. ![]()

Hi. I currently assembling engine back and need an advice in one thing: how to put magneto rotor on it's place?
Currently they stand in such position (black - rotor, red - crankshaft): ![]() ![]() there are free space between end of rotor and end of crankshaft and the overrunning clutch is play (about 5mm) on the shaft. Is it normal? |

Well Rob, thats tidy man (as usual
Might try it without the snorkle fitted and see how i get on from there. Nug over on bbc big recommended cutting the filter snorkle housing out altogether allowing way more air in but like yourself he mentioned the possible vacuum hassles. Small steps maybe eh.. Blue any time i see a photo of you your wearing groovy cardies dude!! Well wear on the new machine. Did you consider the f800 btw? |

I've got more of those!
![]() Well, I did consider F800GS. Despite I do not like most of Beemers. Here is why I went for Tiger. 1. F800GS really s...ks when taken to road trip, demanding high speed sections. It is not really good on road. It feels a bit unstable, it floats a bit and it get's buffeted by trucks and crosswinds like hell. Up to say 140 kmph it is kinda OK, but after 140 - it is way worse than my DR was. 2. Whatever I do every time I sit on F800 frame beams under seat pushing against my inner leg right at some "nerve" spot making it painful. As if they specially put it there to turn me off that bike. Really weird - and nothing to do with bike, it is my problem. 3. I do not like clutch on that bike, I do not like seat on it. 4. I do not like BMW approach to service and costs of it in Belgium. 5. I seen few owners here to go through set of niggles that still did stop them from riding. Tiger have it's share of niggles, but still going. 6. BMW motor nowhere near Tiger when it comes to carving paved roads. 7. F800GS alternator output is a joke for contemporary "adventure" bike. I do not like to be that limited. 8. Tiger have industry-strandard OBD2 open-source ECU with standard OBD2 socket. That's it I think... |

Well you certaintly have your reasons Blue lol.
Id imagine the tigers a better proposition on road than the beemer but i dig the engine efficieny of that motor, so frugal. Easily 60mpg+ when cruising. If i was to buy a bike from the trumpet range the 1200 explorer would be it but alas im not a triumph man, i just cant trust the engines. Anyway make with more pics Blue |

Yeah thats the mod Nug mentioned alright Rob. Id be slow to run it like that if it affects carburation badly like you mention
.What purpose do ya reckon the snorkle plays btw? Anyway i gotta rip her apart for balancer chain and valves. Shes making a new noise and its worrying me tbh. Its going great so i keep teeling myself its just a trait of these noisy motors (and its my first air cooled single) but maybe i can improve things eh. |

Well I have been playing again too, after putting in the 800 crank thanks Lars and some pumpers from HRT I thought I might try a round foam filter as it may be a tad better than the 650 filter I was running with the CV,s

I think you would bennifit the most buy leaving the snorkle in and doing the top mod to the air box I know its only a small amount of extra breathing but to much will upset the vacume for CV carbs.

Especially for Bluesman:
Igor, I forgot to tell you, that we have a round table at Kerpen-Horrem this Thursday at 8 o'clock in the evening. Same town and pub as last time. Iris and me will be there, too. If you've got time and mood to join us, that would be nice. Sorry for telling it to you so late ... I'm having holiday and so I'm able to surf the www late at night. It's already wednesday, so the round table takes place tomorrow. Kind regards, Bambi
