Ray good to see that you have now come to some sort of a conclusion .
Yep, at least it is "some sort" of a conclusion.

I think I can find a 14T CS sprocket from an early Dr650 over here that will let me see what happens with the more "correct" gearing.

For now, it's very rideable and I quite like the "overdrive" It gives the bike a very different feel from the 750 engine but will still wheelie off the throttle in 1st gear.

Rob, I like you idea of punching holes next to the snorkle and will try this on an older air filter I have. It may just be the best of both worlds approach.

Thanks for all you comments (including livestock references that have now been added to my vocabulary).

Mate, I've got some spare 520 / 14 teeth sprockets with matching chain guide.

Cheers,

Lars,I'm impressed, you seem to have almost everything for these bikes.

Not bad.....for an OLD guy

Yes, please put me down for one. I plan on asking you for a few items in the near future but if you could put my name on one 14T CS sprocket before everyone wants one, that would be great.

Fun with math

I sat down yesterday and calculated out the total final ratios for all our bigs.

It's rather interesting:

For SR4142 with Standard 48/15 final drive:

1.937:1 (primary) x .80:1 (5th gear) x 3.2:1 final (48/15) = 4.958 : 1

For SR41/42 with altered 47/15 final drive

1.937 x .80 x 3.133 = 4.854 :1

For SR43 with Standard 47/15 final drive:

1.848 x .80 x 3.133 = 4.631 :1

Hello there,
@ Mark 618: Afaik the tank on Nave's bike is for a DR 650 and it's been made by Acerbis. Stefan Hessler said, some time ago, that he convinced Acerbis to make a new batch of 20 or so. So he still might have one or more in his shop. Just did a little search there, here you are: http://www.dr-big-shop.de/650_TankPlastic.html
Ok, I don't know if you're looking for a cheaper, used one. But so at least you know what you're looking for ...
Kind regards, Bambi

SR43 CDI in the SR41

Lars,

Can you be a bit more specific about that additions or changes are necessary to wire the SR43 CDI into a SR41 wiring harness?

Electronics is my weak point and I'm having trouble following the wiring diagram on you web site....cant tell what is different or what changes are necessary.
