Yorkshire Dales DRBig Meet

I'm seriously considering organizing a DR meet, possibly at Tan Hill in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. This would be food/beer/banter, and a 200-mile ride out on B roads and Unclassified roads (like the pics I posted earlier in the thread), with a slight chance of 'soft roading' if I can find some big puddles and unsealed surfaces.

Accomodation will be camping or B&B, and could be here:

http://www.tanhillinn.com/

It's the highest pub in the UK, and is used to biker meets.

If anyone from Europe wants to attend, I'll glady meet people at the ferry ports and bring 'em back to Manchester prior to the get-together.

I'm looking at mid-June, so that's about 8 weeks notice.

No wuckin furries mate... walk in the park that one !!! It'll be like an average commute to work for me Lets include a trip to Gozo (14km x 7km) our sister island, make it a bit more interesting as there are some hills and rocky dunes over there too. Got a perfect place for lunch too

BTW- I am planning to do second trip to Norway this summer, if anybody wants to join - welcome. This time I probably will not do solo tour, as I expect couple of friends from Ukrain and Russia to join me in Germany and Denmark for this trip.
I am guesstimating about 5000-5500 km in 14 days as I have first to get to ferry and from ferry in Denmark, which is 2500 km already (worst kilometers, it's highway...hate it ). But I can promise you that rest of the trip will be spectacular. No offroad as my mates come with paneuropeans and big beemers etc.
Timing set for 1 August departure from Belgium to 16 August arriving back home.

I intend to , it will be in the afternoon.I will be on the 750. I went last year on the T . The lad came along on he`s gsx600f. He dropped it near Peterborough last Oct so I am (nearly finished )re building (paint /replace ) it back. He managed to kerb both wheels. He refuses to go pillion ( I fell off my BM once).
The wife is disabled so I cannot get out too much and even have to consider time, plus I play in a band so cannot keep asking for cover.

I could probably be persuaded by a weekends camping/riding/drinking some time in June, so long as it's not the Donington WSB weekend.

That's June 29-29 isn't it? A few potential attendees are doing IBA events and Longest Day rides on June 21-22, so that leaves the first two weeks.

Maybe the first weekend in June? At least that's within a week of payday

I would love to do that!

My problem is that my son lives in the south of France (he's 10), and I use at least 30 days leave each year to maintain contact with him. This usually leaves me with just a few 3 or 4 day weekends a year for biking trips.

RIP Richard

Richard Alcand, the former keeper of my DR, died yesterday after a battle with leaukemia. He didn't post in this thread but he was lurking and watching us all chatter about how much we loves these bikes. Richard had my DR since 2003, rescuing it from a breakers yard, and did all the rebuild and refurb work himself.

I just found out as I opened an email from his wife Sally:

He was really glad that you bought his bike from him and he thought you were a great guy and was even more pleased that you were keeping him informed of your progress with the bike and how much you were working on it and how pleased you were with the work he did on it. All of this really meant a lot to him in his last few weeks.

RIP Richard, thank you so much.

That sucks! Sorry to hear. At least Richard was happy the DR found a good home. You now have a huge responsibility.

Will be watching you...
