This is Jay; one of there friends.
This post reminded me of this:

"And, and I told Don too, because they've moved my desk four times already this year, and I used to be over by the window, and I could see the squirrels, and they were married, but then, they switched from the Swingline to the Boston stapler, but I kept my Swingline stapler because it didn't bind up as much, and I kept the staples for the Swingline stapler and it's not okay because if they take my stapler then I'll set the building on fire... Your very welcome! Feel free to use what you need for the kids. I grew up in Newhalem and enjoyed seeing the wildlife there. PM me if you'd like me to send you some of the photo's.

You are correct. Specifically they are Red Breasted Mergansers. I don't know where the picture was taken, but odds are it is a tidal area. Red Breasted Mergansers prefer saltwater.

Nice picture Tom

After one nice day in the last 40 The Oregonian today had a front page I had to post here. They wanted to assure Portlanders it would all be OK.

I climbed this a couple of years after it went up. It was like walking on a beach. One step forward, slide back two near the rim. I took this pix while on the approach to SeaTac.
