Top boxes.

I personally had one. Ditched it halfway through my trip and loved the improved handling. I did like having a lockable and easily removable box, but would rather have a better ride. I would only get another one on a bike that could handle the weight.

That's the thing - leave it empty. Mine is only for locked helmet / tankbag storage at stops and beer / firewood transport to camp. You don't actually fill it up with shit and ride all day.

Well, OK then. That certainly is an answer. Uh, what was the question?

Too big for too little interior space. I would rather a tank bag, both price wise, and size wise.

ughhh. I am not that disciplined. If I had the space I would use it!

I either dont smoke cigerettes or smoke a pack a day. I have a hard time finding middle ground sometimes.

I have a seahorse 540 for a top case on my KLR, it holds my camp stove, cooking utensils, lighters, general camping necessities and the most important item, mountain money...

This setup takes about 5 minutes to switch from or to Naked - which is how I like to ride for sport in good weather.

I would like to create a similar set-up for my SV1000n. What size box is that?

Last summer I replaced my Emgo with this 26L Givi. Think it looks a little better and holds a wee bit more:

Have this left over top from my wrecked 1200RT that I am considering mounting to the GS. Whatcha think? I like the convenience of a top case but not sure this would fit aesthetically with the box cases....

Have done that on a couple SV650s, three or four Aprilias, and a handful of Hondas.

Buy the generic plastic topbox plate so you can put 4 bolts through the seat, preferably along spines in the seat pan for strength.

What size box? That looks like an E50, but once you have the plate, you use any Givi topbox you want, as long as it's the same style as the plate (Monokey or monolock are the two styles, not interchangeable.)

The one concern is to make sure the latch is well supported on both sides (bike and seat) and strong enough for a load it wasn't really designed for.
