To me top boxes look stupid if they end up being taller then the rider. The vfr is a good example, I have a vfr and I'd rather swallow a shotgun barrel then put a top box on it. I'm going to end up strapping stuff to the seat cowl to keep the load low and near me. If the top box sits lower I think they look ok. I even have one on my scooter.

Did you add mirror extensions so you could see around it?

(assuming it's yours)

BITE YOUR TONGUE.

I may have made some bad MC accessory decisions in my life, but this is WAY beyond anything that I am capable of.

No, that bike was on a for sale site- the P.O. probably loaded the box and couldn't figure why the bike handled like a piece of krap

When you put a Top Box on a DR you automatically relinquish any and all rights of ownership. Thus YOU can’t sell it. So, where is this free bike?

Ok, I've finally mustered the courage. Here is mine. I'm not super excited by the way it looks (particularly since I bought this bike in large part because of it's looks) but I LOVE having it.

How does it effect the handling? The first time I rode with it (empty) I definitely noticed it was there. After riding with it for a while, I didn't notice it. Loaded (overloaded) it handles just fine. In fact, with the top box loaded I like the way it handles better, believe it or not. It turns in much more easily, probably due to the higher cog. And it rides smoother. The bike has a full complement of suspension adjustment, and I've tried a bunch of different settings, but I like it best with a full load. In crosswinds, it is affected slightly more than without, but not b much. Having waterproof, lockable storage far outweighs the negatives in my case.

i gota admit, takign my top box off, the bike handles better, looks better, no clearance issues with the suspention, but its not as convenient, goign to the shops, my panniers arnt big enough to hold my helmet, so i just caryr it, as opposed to just dropping everything into the top box and locking it and walking away.
