cj knobbies

i'm looking for a set(4) of knobbies for my cj.the street tires are 3.75x19.anybody have anything,or have some suggestions?thanks.

Chaparral motorsports has good selection. However, u gotta know if a 120/19 or 100/19 will clear your driveshaft or sidecar frame etc.

This is a issue with my Ural.

Usually the generic knobbies from like Chen Shen that are listed as 3.75 are
not too wide.


Trailer that rig over to my place one Sunday and go for a D/S ride.
I'll Take my CJ powered R12.

The Urals are running 4.00x19's. If those fit, there will be more options available to you.
The important thing on hack tires is the sidewall strength, and most knobbies don't qualify.
If there is a Ural dealer near you, check out the Hindeaus (sp?).
Some of the Uralistas are running these: Not sure if they come in 3.75, but you can trim the side knobs some.

I have these on my Gear Up. They have great grip. Stick like glue tarmac or dirt. Even WOT (for a Ural) on the Dragon. Cant say I am going to get a lot of mileage out of them. they are more than half gone after 1700km.

The Kenda ice tires do have nice road manners for a knobby, a good dual purpose tire. They do sing when they wear in though.

For half that price (Rocky Mountain ATV $44.99) is the Kenda Trackmaster II K760. DOT approved 6 ply rated full on knobby. Downside is they wear like erasers on pavement. And you'll have to trim the inside knobs on the pusher(easy enough with a Sawzall:)

Something like the ice tires or Hindenaus are hard to beat for an all around tire. But if off-road traction is most important, hard to beat the TM II's for the money. I think they are a great choice for a 1wd rig that doesn't mind changing out the pusher to play in the dirt.

Talking ok heres how it happened...hold my beer.

i went in to the local honda shop with my 78 400 hondamatic with the sidebathroom, and tell them to put the most aggresseve tires that will fit on the bike. 2 days later i go to check on how thier doing. there right in the middle of trying to take my rear fender out so these giant motocross knobbies will fit, my front fender is sitting on the side hack and in its place is this giant knobbie. well it did look kinda neat.. but no no no guys. i need my fenders. i said the the most aggersseve tires that will Fit! so 2 days later i help them spoon on some trials bike tires, after thier tec popped my rear tube. so anyway ive got 4000 miles on them now and i guess they will be good for another 2000. they flex and are stickey on uneven terrain, but seem to want to roll onto thier side when i fly the hack. i just run higher perssure to compensate.

Keinda Trackmaster II's

These tires are cheep but wear pretty quickly on pavement. I am commuting alot now with gas over $4.00 here so I put the stock tires back on the bike. I left the sidecar with the knobby and my spare is a knobby just incase I need to swap out the rear tire and offroad someplace.

I liked the way the bike handled with the knobbies. The steering is much lighter with less push/pull on the bars. The bike did tend to slide some in tight turns so slow down some. I was really suprised that the tires didn't vibrate much at speed. They do Hummm quite a bit at 55mph. I like the noise.. :")

not from china!! i'm still working on mine.i've had a number of suggestions.new rims-keep the spokes and hubs.i guess there is a sportster rim that will work.send them to woody's wheels for a rebuild,or find someone that specializes in wire wheels.i found a bicycle shop in houston that does motorcycle wheels.right now i have one of mine(the spare)with a member of the BANDITO'S.i'm not going to push him!! good luck and let me know if you find a good source.

Jim at Jimbo's sidecars............he's in Beijing and post's here. He has had a better hub made and rims with stainless spokes.........straight one that don't break like stock the stock ones have a tendency to do or you could get the Chang alloy mag wheels.

The benefits are more than just roundness............the above mentioned alternative use a cast iron liner and wider shoes.........the stock hubs are steel pressed and over heat and can distort, another plus is the fact the alternatives allow you to use wider brake shoes, more than twice the width for better stopping (slowing) power.
Get Barnetts to make you up a better cable as well.............stock ones stretch and the outer sleeve contracts.
