Best WV town to retire to for dual-sport/adventure riding

Hope to get discussion started reference DS and adventure riding, towns, health care, etc. I'm familiar with much of northern WV being from western MD.

Thanks for all contributions!

Bramwell WV, connects with three Hatfield McCoy trial systems and some cool out law trails...

You might want to look at Pocahontas County. The largest town is Marlinton and it has a hospital.
Pocahontas County is the second least populated county in WV and is about 60 or 70% National Forest. There are hundreds of miles of unpaved FS roads and many other unpaved county roads.
Eight rivers originate in the county and flow out, while no water flows into the county on the surface of the ground.
There are many DS rally's in the county each year.

I'll second Elkins. Great riding and most of the amenities you would want for everyday life. Good music scene, decent hospital, easy access to bigger towns like Clarksburg.

Thanks for ideas. Keep 'em coming.

Use to go to the eye doctor in Elkins in the 1960s when I was little.

lol yeah that is true.

It is a real shame that wv continues its heritage of extreme political corruption, it has held this state back from progress for too long. So many great areas that could be so much more than the stagnant areas they have been for the past 100 years.

Just a few RECENT examples

http://www.wvnstv.com/story/17325355...ethics-charges

http://wvpress.org/news/w-va-ethics-...tive-director/

Summersville area has had officers arrested for stealing drugs from the evidence room, officers arrested for molesting kids, 911 director arrested for stealing funds, county commission on trial for ethics, etc.

There are still good areas here but there are so many super corrupt areas it is not even funny. They do not even try to hide the corruption in most areas. Prosecuting attorneys seem to be a popular job for the corrupt in this state. One was arrested for having a child sex slave ring (and only had $5000 bond!), one for beating his ex-wife and selling drugs and making deals with criminals for drugs, another for child abuse and so on and so on.

You will see the news cover these ^^ then magically they never follow up because with the good ole boy network the charges are usually dropped or they get probation then quietly slipped into another wv state job.

Yeah....don't retire to WV because it's full of corrupt politicians, shady cops, and no tooth banjo playing hillbillies that want to make you scream like a pig.

Oh....the roads there are flat and straight, there's lots of rocks and pot holes, the scenery is terrible, and sometimes you have to ride through creeks and rivers.

Yeah....everything about the place sucks.

Nothing to do or see there, so just move along.
