Laugh Clutch Switch 99 640

Purchased 99 640 recently. Dropped it the other night on clay pan. Snapped the clutch perch. Collected new part and found it does not have the provision for the 'cluth switch'. Can anybody fill me in as to what this switch is for and if I can live without it?

Talking

The switch makes you have to pull in the clutch in order to start the bike which is why it's called the "clutch safety switch". That way you can't start it in gear and have the bike take off without you.

If you follow the wires to the harness under the headlight you can bypass the switch BUT you will HAVE to remember to be in neutral or you'll be in for a surprise. I bypassed mine on my DRZ along with the kickstand switch with no problems.

like jeff said. the switch can be easily jumped... makes for a fun ride if she starts in gear when you're not ready.
