I really want to get my avatar up. but it's ticking me off to no end...

thanks
I am having same trouble using Photoshop on a Mac. I followed the instructions on page one of this thread: the file is 70x70 pixels and the resolution is at 72.

I've tried uploading it from my computer and through my SmugMug account as a link to a 'tiny' file without success.

I'd like to learn how to do it rather than someone just resizing it for me. Anyone??

Sometimes you have to ignore the 70x70 rule and get the file size down below 19.5k. Mine turned out to be 70x60 and the file size is small enough that it gets accepted. Resolution is also a factor.

If you just try to resize the image to the prescribed size, it will still be too big. Try opening the picture, then hit 'File', 'Save for Web', then on the right hand side you will see a tab 'Image size', enter in the size, hit 'Apply', then hit 'Save', name it something fancy, and that's it.

Has always worked for me this way, so good luck.

The one you see is the one I just made to prove it.

Thanks Jim, but it still didn't work. Said it was still too big and it's starting fall apart at that low of a resolution. I found the Yogi avatar with google, so I will go with that for a awhile.

The usual request from a non computer noob.

Can someone crop and resize this for my avavtar? Keeping the signs but loose the background is OK.

Thanks

Matt
