Went for a nice ride down to Savannah today got the tag.. There is a lot of dirt in Screven and Effingham counties. You can ride from burke county almost to about 30-40 miles of Savannah on dirt...

Wow, you'll have to let me know how. I've got family in Savannah....that'd be a great route to go see them.

You must have no feeling in your butt. I don't think I could have ridden my KLR to Savannah and back in a day. BTW, If all goes well, I'll have a nice new to me DRZ 400 SM in my garage sometime in March. I'll keep ya'll posted.

As the Crow flys that should of been a 240+/- mile round trip...is my guess.
On a KLR that would not be to bad on the tail end, on a DRZ it would be tuff.

The KLR was my only bike at the time. IF I get this DRZ, I'm just going to keep my FZ1 for the longer jaunts.

Yeah my wish is to have two bikes.. one I can beat the heck out off road and not worry about it when I wipe out..more like a DRZ and then have nice bike I can ride on the roads for some longer rides..
The KLR is good but whenever I get crazy off road with it I end up having to buy parts to fix it...

Yeah I was thinking of how nice it would be to have a side car on some of those really sandy roads, where it feels like I am sort of surfing...

I will have to follow you and try to figure out how to keep away from the big dust cloud you will be kicking up...with that extra wheel...or..maybe I could just hop in the side car..hey....this might work..I could be your personal navigator haha

It's a day-to-day thing Jman. His mobility is fair, stamina/breath, is low(tires out walking to garage or get the paper),srength and endurance low, has to take a nitro pill at "wake-up" every morning, followed by darvocet, to overcome heart pain.

But he is still quite capable of living alone...sorta. Just no driving.
I go out every morning, not quite knowing what to expect when I open the door. Fetch the paper, take out the trash, prepare lunch, run errands, lay out meds, take care of the dog....yadayadayada.
Go home in the afternoon, await a 6:00pm call from him, to be certain he's OK. If he forgets, I go back in town to check....try to do some chores around the house, try to sleep, and start all over again the next day.

Good news is, we've gotten him 2 weeks past what the Doc thought he had left.

New Front End

Well I got to work on my front end this afternoon. It didn't take near as long as I thought it would. I spent about 6 hours taking the old forks and trips off and installing and making brackets for the ignition, speedo, etc. I need to go back and make it a little more decent some of the brackets do not look that good, but was just mocking it up to see what would work and what would not. I was amazed at the weight difference between the two, I image that it was a 2 to 3 lbs difference.

Just waiting for the brake caliper and brake line to come in and will be ready to go test it out.

Video from 2 Saturdays ago. It's a long one. I did cut it down from about 3 hours of footage.
