Man I cant beleive we all missed bike night at hooters last night

Catalyst, I'm having a blast on it. It's a lot of fun for tooling around town as long as the road is dry (the knobbies are a bit slick in the rain..but I guess I need to learn to live with it). At um... highway speeds ...yeah ...proper highway speeds the wind is NUTS! I cant even turn my head with out it snapping around. IT's FREGIN AWESOME !! ( is that sick or wrong to say? )

At worst I got something like low 40's upper 30's MPG when I was zipping around in the woods and at the aformentioned proper highway speeds. Otherwise low to mid 60's MPG is normal.

I do wish it had a bigger tank, a rack with some saddle bags and the know how to deal with a flat. Right now I use a CamelBak and carry a can of fix-a-flat (is this bad?)

This sunday is not looking good for me but next sunday... I prob could do something.

Keep ridin', you'll learn how to spoon some tires! i got some fresh skins coming for mine already. 'cause when I do get a chance to ride, I'm gonna be ready....bike-wise, anyway. This outta shapre creeky ole bod may slow me down....but I ain't planning on racing no way....just wanna see the sites, most folks never do.

Thumper-Talk is a good place to share ideas too, as well as order parts. Tires, sprockets, gas tank, and a few other goodies coming from them now. Springs, bars, bark-busters and a couple more items coming from Jesse Kientz, and some OEM expendables from Bike-Bandit....

Still gotta locate about a 2 foot section of 3" PVC. All the stores wanna sell longer minimum lengths.... of course I could make a couple of extra tool carriers I guess.... if anyone would wanna pay cost.

Pissed Helmet for sale

Well it seems that after the 3 week break in period on my HJC CL Max I now need a size medium instead of a large. Before I get a new one ( and thus before I ride anywhere again) I need to sell this one. I figured I'd offer it here first. Paid $189 asking $100. Sill have origional box, bag manual etc.. No dents, scrapes..nothing. The inside still smells new.

Levee Rd

Canoli - sounds like it's a great time...but sorry 'bout your helmet. That stinks! On the bright side, gives you an excuse to upgrade early!

I actually did end up riding last night after a work function. Didn't get off until after 6:30, so I went to explore the Augusta Levee at the end of Columbia Nitrogen. It was bust. There's about a three mile dirt road with all sorts of side lanes that lead into fields, but every one of them was gated. Couldn't even get out at the Lock & Dam at the end of the road b/c the wooden bridge was gated at the other end.

Kliff - thanks for the suggestion on the rear sprocket. He actually gave me the original 45 that came on the bike. It's got a 39 on it right now. Someone mentioned I'd probably need to get a new chain if I switched back...does that sound right?

So.........I'm trying to figure this one out......your head shrank? or the helmet grew?

J/K.... But someone had to say it....figurred I might as well take the cheap shot....

Seriously, I've got an HJC flip face in the closet, that did the same thing, a large became an extra large. Bought a Nolan N100E after that, been wearing it ever since(5 years), as comfortable as the first day I put it on.
Thinking about a replacement though, something with a little more thoat protection, and a sun sheild.... Shoei Typhoon has my interest...but 400.00 is hard to part with....

So........did anyone get any riding in yesterday? Beleive it or not, I actually had to make a "drug store" run for Cathy yesterday, so I took the DR out. Managed a few dirt road miles on Reynolds Farm Rd, in Grovetown, hard pack clay, loose sand on top, gravel, a little sand, 1 stream crossing....just not long enough. Besides, had to get back, I was on a mission, not a "play day."

NOW I see why everyone seems to hate the OEM tires. On pavement, they were fine, but as soon as I left the pavement, The front had a mind of it's own. I've never experience anything like it, except with full street oriented tires on dirt roads. There was not even a semblance of control, especially in the gravel sections. Replacements are on the way.

Suspension....WAY too plush. Springs are on the way.

Gearing....way too high. Sprockets are on the way.

But with just a few mods, this is gonna be one heck of a bike, at least for me. I love the linear power band, ergos are great, light weight....everything seems as though this will be one fun machine. Can't wait to get 'er finished and check out some of the dirt M&MM, Canoli, and some of you other guys have spoken of...

Welcome aboard Bryan, you sir, are now an AARSE.

And we will depend upon you, to carry that name proudly forth in all your adventure rides.....yadayadayadayada.....
Look forward to meeting up with you some day. Canoli has been exploring the Sumter Nat'l forest, and as soon as I'm able, I'm gonna be heading both East and West of Augusta, so we'll definitely have a chance to get together.
