Newbie Here

Hi Guys,

A Cedar Rapids native (Jefferson class of 82). Picked up a KLR last summer, a 09, drove to a WI dealer to pick it up, dirt cheap. New to bikes but have bought 3 in past year.

Live in the country south of Des Moines now.

Will be reading the Ride reports but doubt I'll go anywhere exotic for a few years. Would love to do a South America run, but time(and money) will keep that from happening soon. Alaska might be more doable but doesn't seem as fun as all the border crossings. It appears more like a "lets go get there and come home" type of ride. Say we did it..

Will be studying farkles for the KLR as well.

have a 1966 Scout that should get some attention one of these years. I started it and put it in the pasture while I built my house, cough cough ..6 years ago...

Keep getting upload errors for my pic, I know they are small enough...and in jpg format..

Scouts are the official JRV: Jeep Recovery Vehicle

She isn't much right now. It has been parked in my pasture for 6 years. I just started taking stuff off and coating it with POR-15, and putting it back on. I have about all I need to re-assemble except time...

How come this thing doesn't take my photos, every time I upload it said error.
It did that with my Avatar but it still shows up. My jpg's are below 146kb and are sized at 480x640...

Finally a direct link to photobucket.

Nate never did ride the S out on the street. Unless he did it before 11:00am, that's when I got there. Didn't even buy anything.

They sure did have a lot of bikes there for sale! And the brats were good!

$125 takes the new Razz home....I will deliver if you are in the area....I have a titled Trail 70 I want to buy BAAAAAAAAD and I think my project 70 is sold as of tonight.

Scouts scare me. Friend in KC has one that was a total rusty POS and nicknamed project tetanus.

It's what I do. As of now I will have about $450 into this one with a title. For the most part it's original.

Hello to Iowa riders, I am riding from Prescott, WI to Cameron, MO tomorrow, and will be looking for coffee / cafes to stop at possibly to warm up at. I have stopped at Cabin Coffee in Clear Lake before but heard they had a fire recently. I try to mix it up a little and ride parts of 169, 69, and 65. So any good stops along the way would help make the ride more interesting. I enjoy 69 from Des Moines to Cameron, scenic, less traffic, and everyone in the smaller towns wave. Thanks

If you get on hwy 65 and head through Iowa Falls, stop at the Red Rooster cafe on the corner of Rocksilvainia ave and Oak street. Hwy 65 is oak street.

Right next door to Mc Donald's.

If I didn't have to work tonight, I would meet up with you and go for a little ride south to probably Des Moines. Would like to stop at the new Bass Pro shops in Altoona.

You also get to see all the new windpower generators on hwy 65 north of Iowa Falls. These things are everywhere now.

Have fun!

Thanks for the tip about the cafe. On my way up north, I was in a Wendy's near Altoona, and someone asked if I knew where the Bass Pro Shop was. Didn't know as I was just passing through, but seen it when I got back on the road. The sign said there is a restaurant inside Bass Pro. Might check it out sometime...
