Oktoberfest riding summary

Here's another video I made of riding. The last one was just part of one day of riding. We rode pretty much all weekend so I decided to make a video summarizing the areas we rode.

Friday: Short trip to Amana for Oktoberfesting. Good times. A drunken Irish slut told me I have a nice beard (bullshit, it's scraggly as fuck) and then asked if I was single. Less than two minutes later she said she wanted to make out. I wasn't so sure the guys standing behind her, leering at me, weren't her boyfriends. No makes outs but good brats and "Rock N' Roll Band" was on the schedule for the night. I'm pretty sure that wasn't their name but who cares anyway. They played Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond but I decided some Bavarian girls would sound better over that. They're called Power und Beauty and the track is "Beggars and Felons". You can find more of their music for free here

Saturday: Rode to Amana through the Hawkeye Wildlife Area riding with a friend, Cody, who had ridden those roads before. I've always been curious about that area and about the possibility of camping for free there. There's a nice fire ring and trash so that spot seems okay. I followed his dust cloud from there to Amana. After I made the huge mistake of riding along the train rails we had some brats and saw some fools. Candy, antiques and all that artsy crap was cool but the real treat was a bar called "The Man Cave". We didn't stay long but it's on my list of places in whch to get shit-faced. The music during this portion of the video is some Rockabilly from Jonny Barber and the Living Dead playing "Bad Bob". With lyrics like "He'll make a $10 whore cry out for more." you can't go wrong. More of their music can be found here "Look Both Ways" is also a good track.

Sunday: Rode from Iowa City through Hills to Kalona and back. These roads were pretty sweet. Lots of maintenance road options and good scenery. In the video you can see a farm where there is a team of horses. As we rode past they galloped along the fence in the same direction. Closer to Kalona there was another pair of horses pulling a buggy. We ate at Subway where Cody become sandwich buddies with an employee there who didn't hear him say he only wanted a 6" sub.

Glad you liked it!

Recording people ride is great so I can learn from watching others and it helps me improve by trying to keep up. Sunday the 9th might work for me but the week after would be better so I could have more time to ride and more time to get people together. Right now I only know a few people around Iowa City who ride dual-sports. Know some other people we can get involved? We can assume about three riders right if you include the two of us from this video and you.

major props to the fella from dubuque (and his lovely wife) on the RS for the tip on the mindoro cut in wisconsin. absolutely amazing. i wish i would have had time to run it several times. as it was i got back home kinda late due to having to navigate leafers and harley riders who feel the need to travel well below posted speed limits

Post it here and I'll keep an eye out, I usually work weekends but it's been hit or miss lately.

I'd be riding my Tiger as my 250 still has MT plates.
