I did see that. I avoided the B roads this trip because my wife was on the back and my buddy was on my old Monster. Figured it didn't want to risk having to replace the CF hugger.

Saturday's route was a bit longer. Met up with a couple of guys at the Love's in Newton by the Speedway from Chicago and Milwaukee returning from a trip to Death Valley. Couple of very road worn thumpers that had me wanting to pack up my gear on the bike and head off on an adventure. Chatted with them for a while and then split off from my small group and headed for home via the scenic route.
Ran into a couple on Harleys at the Casey's in Polk City and they were floored that I had over 600 miles in in less than 5 days riding the new bike. They couldn't fathom riding more than a hundred miles in a weekend.

Anyway, one of the guys I rode with on saturday has been thinking about a Saddlesore 1k or a Bun Burner Gold in the near future. Since I was already planning the same after my 600 mile break-in service (now 100 miles past due lol), I think he will tag along with mine. Not doing a straight out and back ride on the slab. My tentative route would take me down into southern Missouri/northern Arkansas in a big loop the back up to home.

Starting to develop a strong wanderlust. Just want to get on the bike and see where I end up next. But silly me...job...wife...responsibilities.

As a proud Hawkeye, and former Dubuque'er, I'd like to invite ya'll to the North Shore Shindig in Little Marais, MN this summer. From eastern Iowa, It would be a great day ride up the Great River Road, then through Wisconsin up to Duluth/Superior. Check it out, drop us a line on our thread, hope to see you there.

My subscription notice for this thread hasn't worked for last week. I missed two pages of good stuff.

I've been commuting on the DL650 a bunch lately, but no fun riding really.

Anyone heard of Vintage Torque Fest in Maquoketa, IA?

http://www.vintagetorquefest.com/

Me and 3 guys are thinking about riding up Saturday morning and camping at the track. The bands are awesome and this looks like a good party!

Tim,
I think Butch and I and maybe Dan Dennis will come down for Saturday only. I have rock band duties Friday and Sunday. We should be in Butch's yellow '74 Ford Super "Rapest" Van. Not sure what Brian is doing yet. He wants the '53 Chevy down there, and I want my bike on it. He is trying to get his '46 IH ready as well. Jodi didn't want to be the only woman in our group, and I think see only wanted to stay for one day. Brian wanted to camp out all weekend. If I can get the smoker down there, I am taking it around the track!!

As far as DS goes, I work with a guy that has an '82 XL500 that he was going to sell me, but he isn't a very driven seller...

I know their system is pretty flaky.

anyway, I might be interested in your other Blast, if you're still interested in getting rid of it. The GF and I decided the seating and weight of the Sportster aren't right for her. If she wasn't still a newbie, I'd have tried talking her into the CR
