Of course, I am not sure of many fly fishing spots along that route.
SPeaking of which, I need to invest in a new fly rig. Haven't fly fished or any other kind of fished since my early 20s.
Here's one way to get to Ames that involves curves and rivers:

What is it with non-riders who come up to you, look over your gear and then comment about how silly you are to ride when it might rain?
Come ON...it's water. Not sulfuric acid for cripes sake.
I also love the people who see me walking into the building with my gear on and my helmet in my hands and ask, "You ride today?"
I usually reply with, "Nope. They won't let me on the bus without my special helmet." and then proceed to drool as I stand there waiting for their reaction.

Silly people. Sheesh.

The riding around Stratford and that section of the river is fun. The Riverside Tap is a great place to stop when riding or snowmobiling. You should see all the sleds parked out there on a Sunday afternoon. Dolliver Memorial State Park NW of Leigh is worth a ride through also.

I am still planning on being at Hickory Park on Sunday.

Saw a few guys out in waders.
Check out the ride photos from my brother’s blog...

Whenever I walk in with my helmet, I seem to get that question. My response is, "Nope, I just have a rough meeting later today."

Well, my gear proved its worth this morning on the ride in to work.

Of course, my waterproof Kathmandu gloves are currently "Out for delivery." So my cool weather leather gloves were worn and my hands were the only part that got wet.
Jacket shell looked wet with a bunch of beaded water on it but it was completely dry within 20 minutes or so of hanging in my cube.
New helmet faired rather well with only minor fogging with all of the vents closed and no fogging with the chin vent open.
Wore my trusty old Stearns rain pants instead of my normal riding pants though because my riding pants aren't waterproof.

My buddy from Denver called me last night to let me know that he was loving Chile. (He is on a round the world trip on his KLR). Then he proceeded to message me pictures from parts of his trip that he hasn't posted on Facebook. I hate that dude so much. But I keep asking myself if I could catch up with him if I left now...

Let's do it! There is room for one or two other bikes on their. I am building a ramp for the '53 right now.

main problem is the tubes are shot, and tires are weather checked from 47 years of sitting around. cant come up with the right size tires for it so havent decided what to do about that.

That's no big deal. It's light enough that we can man handle it up there, and just leave it on the bed for the weekend.

Could build a flattracker...
