Yep. Something that's easy to maintain and fix. Notice that they don't run shafts in the Dakar Rally?

Seems like many of the older 950s are doing fine.

Rain gear!
A good set with an actual hood will even keep the rain from entering around your collar.

My only complaint is that I don't have waterproof boots and those eventually soak through...

+1 on the boots. But this reminds me of a conversation I've had with my wife:

Wife: "Why do you ride a motorcycle in bad weather?"
Me: "Because I like being closer to nature."
Wife: "Then why do you buy rain gear."
Me: " . . . . "

I've seen some boot covers that could do the job.

If anyone is interested, Speed will be airing This on June 9th:

Shaft drives are ok, but I'd hate to have one go out on a back road ride.

Wouldn't hurt to ask your local DMV. When I got my '71 350 up and running all I had was the WI title that the previous owner had signed 12 years earlier. They charged me $35 and gave me a plate. No problems at all. If you have an out of state registration, I don't see why they wouldn't give you an IA plate.

It's worth a phone call.

Good luck. I'll eat my words if you can get a two stroke titled without some slight of hand, or a county DMV that's asleep. If you live in a rural county, you might stand a chance. Forget it, if you live in Polk, Linn, Johnson, Blackhawk or any other county with a larger city.
