I run my business from it, so it's pretty important that it stay up and running....The Gateway I've been using is about to expire it's 3 year warranty, and the DVD drive crashed today....
I'm gonna send it in to get fixed, but think it's about time to upgrade the business to a new machine and maybe sell this one for a few hundred bucks after it's been gone over by the tech guys.... More or less, I use it for: Surfing online Corel Draw AutoCAD MS Excel, Word, Etc. ACT Database Management I've thought about going the Mac Route, but they are $$$ and I'd hate to have to buy all new software in addition to a new machine.... Damn decisions....

trust me, it's the Dell's. i have 3 friends at the old dealership i worked at. they all bought new Dell's at the same time. 2 desktops and one laptop. first week one desktop and laptop got sent back. laptop i don't think every got returned.... desktop came back and has had problems ever since. the one desktop lasted about a month before it had to be exchanged and it has been a ongoing problem. the one desktop with the most problems was a bad ass one that they sell. turned out to be a total POS. oh and i'm sure Billy will read this as well...... maybe he'll jump in on here and post up how many times i have to redo his brand new dell for him. i think we were getting maybe 6 months at a time out of his.
shit the computer i'm on right now i built myself from the specials bin on Tigerdirect...... 7 years ago........ i've over heated this processor 3 times, and one time i literaly picked the thing up and started smashing it on the ground and stomping on it while it was still on. while doing that i knocked the processor fan off and after my fit of rage i walked down stairs (with the computer still running) and mixed up a Captain and Coke. 3 days later i decided to mess with the comuter to get some files off it before i drug it around the neighborhood behind the KLX, figured out my problem the whole time was just the damaged/over heated AMD processor. i turned down the processor speed and here i am still useing it. don't believe me? next time someone is at my house just ask to see the computer, it's sitting next to me all beat to shit with no side panels on it cause the case is so bent up etc

Went & looked at the macbooks today.... They were really nice....
BUT..... Apparently, as memory intensive as my CAD program is, I'd basically have to re-boot the system and switch OS's everytime I wanted to switch between CAD and another program. They don't believe that the vitualization method will work for CAD... So, I guess it's gonna be another PC.... Back on topic - Hope you guys had fun riding tonight - I got ready to head that way and lightning struck and the sky opened up right when I got ready to leave, so I just turned around and walked back in the house. From the radar map, it looked like you might have stayed dry down there??

it was a good night. i stayed dry all night even though it didn't look like it was going to at first. Todd, Mike, Billy,Little Billy, John and myself were there. i got to ride John's KLR for a sec..... i kinda liked it but it felt a little small to me. i wouldn't mind getting some real seat time on one some day. i got to see Mike's head and bottom end of the motor..... not good buddy.
oh well till next week, maybe we can bribe Billdo into showing up on a bike one night instead of a Crossfire
