So is there a particular place in the park to meet? I'll be there at 10. Look for the blue strom with black gobi bags

Depends on how long it takes us to get back from MIA when we will be there. The ADVers usually lurk along the south east corner of the parking lot. Normally you will see a bmw or two there.

Alright ladies and gents, I am nearly done with my DIY "pretty-much-road, but-can-do-dirt-roads, and-I-might-get-stupid-with-it-in-other-places-too" ADV bike, and am just wondering if self-respecting south Flatistan rider would dare ride alongside this thing while showing me some interesting roads or trips?

At the moment I work all weekends, so weekday trips are more my thing. I still need to buy a small tent for my own travels, and some other gear, and to put a tool-tube on it and do some other mods, but for those not following the "Converted" thread, here is the next hopeful member of the south Flatistan ADV riding club (should she be accepted - one way or another ADV-site decals are on their way to my house as I write this ):

Edit: she resides in Pompano Beach

Yeah, but this one is much less capable at the moment. A swing-arm lengthening project is being planned, but a fork-transplant is beyond me at the moment. I'll be happy with my cheap version of a V-strom for now.

clark - that's awesome. And your previous post did give me the inspiration to eventually use it for some local fishing trips as well just to get out find some unique places to ride it.

Very little

The DN is more like your 640e than it is to a street bike with a knobby on the front wheel. I'm up for a weekday ride MD, have you had it on any dirt yet? Oh you might want to upgrade that bungy, TT has a ti version on page 173 of their catalog

It eats up the single track

LOL, it isn't ready for anything above "dirt roads" yet. That would involve me getting the front springs I want, and installing the other rear shock/spring I have for it, and possibly lengthening the swing-arm. but thanks, San, I will take you up on that ride offer when i finish a few things.

I made it more for adventure touring where the touring distances part was the goal, not with dirt trail riding being a preliminary goal. I guess a set of dirt bike forks could change that pretty easily, and over the last year I've become a huge fan of 21" front wheels for even road riding as the narrow front tire cuts through thick standing water in torrential downpours... On my VN800A I don't slow down to 20 MPH like the traffic around me when we get the heavy rains - I may slow from 80 down to 55 at the slowest, but that narrow front tire makes me the fastest thing on the highway when cages turn on their flashers or have to start pulling over. The EX500 probably doesn't have enough room under it for a 21", though, without the frame being jacked up way too high... so now that i think about it, a front-end off of a dirst bike that uses a 19" front wheel might even still be a tight fit.

Call me a noob, but I can't find for the life of me what catalog "TT" refers to to check out page 173,

That picture of sanjoh on the single track (bike in the hole) doesn't mention that we found that hole two or three times with the DR and dirt ninja...... in NC ON A HORSE TRAIL...... so No Sane person would be on that path anyway! True Adventure story there ask him about our lost wooded trip....... I love adventure too ..... but too what degree is yet to be determined......they don't call him John "Dirt" for nothing.......seems to suck him in everytime no matter what he is riding......

CK===Love the pictures of Glades in the morning.....One of the best times to be out there indeed!!!!!

One of these days I will get to join you guys on a DS ride but unfortunately no Sundays for me. Anyone here that has a plated dirt bike and not a dirt capable street bike that would like to do a Saturday DS ride, I will be there with bells on....Okay, maybe not bells..Probably a chest protector and boots.

On a side note I am heading to the park in a bit so if anyone wants to join in a street ride that's where I will be until about 9:30 or so.
