Here's another Tenere!
Took a little ride out to my favorite cafe... and didn't come back for six months! The Pie-o-neer, Pie Town, New Mexico - well, I just had to head for a place called 'Pie Town' eh?! - great apple pie!: ![]() The Bean, Gunnison, Colorado - I'd already been to the top of Pikes Peak, and ridden the TAT passes and was on my way back west - boy I needed a coffee!: ![]() Bruno's at Gerlach (Black Rock Desert), northern Nevada - I'd had a great breakfast here the year before, having had to camp out the night in the desert (long story), so thought it would be worth a return visit: ![]() Tahoma Aroma, Tahoma, Lake Tahoe, CA - this would be my last cup of coffee for two days... don't ask... let's just say it's at the start (or finish, if you're sensible) of the Rubicon Trail... ![]() Jack Ranch Cafe, Cholame, CA - preportedly James Dean's favorite joint - I had a greasy burger here, then visited the crash site a little further east where Hwy 41 meets Hwy 46, and Jimmy met his maker... ![]() Lumber Jack Cafe, Big Bear City, CA - This was in my GPS database! - offered the usual fried food fair and a good cuppa: ![]() Slash-X Ranch, Nr. Barstow, CA - right on the edge of the Stoddard Valley OHV area - all dirt bikes, bullshit and beer... ![]() Sabine's on 4th Ave. Tucson, Arizona - funky little cafe in the hip part of town... great weather for sitting outside, even in February!: ![]() Old Benson Ice Cream shop, Benson, Arizona - I can't ride past an ice-cream parlour without stopping! I was on my way to Tombstone, before heading east... ![]() Starbucks, Las Cruces, New Mexico - ok, ok, so I went to Starbucks... having eaten way too many pancakes during the first part of my trip, my new favorite 'lite' breakfast was a triple espresso, fruit salad cup and an apple fritter (donut) - positively healthy eh? ![]() Chuy's, Van Horn, Texas - funky little mexican place, run by a funky little mexican - cheap as anything too! ![]() Kathy's Kafe (Between Terlingua and Study Butte), Big Bend, Texas - where old hippies come to winter it seems! I ended up staying the night here in the cheapest motel I could find, and had a corking Burrito breakfast here the next morning! ![]() Baby's, Key West, Florida - arriving sunburnt and windswept (that'll teach me for riding the length of the Keys sleeveless and with no helmet), I was in need and refreshment and shade... Baby's is the southernmost coffee roaster in the USA - I sent some beans back home! ![]() Deals Gap, North Carolina - people love to slate the Gap/Dragon/129 (call it what you will...), but hell, I was riding back west along the Blue Ridge Parkway, so had to give it a go! Early evening on a sunny spring Sunday - no traffic, no cops, perfect! ![]() Miguel's Moab, Utah - Great food, not the cheapest in town (is anywhere in Moab?!), but really really tasty tucker! I've been back two or three times now... ![]() I did do some riding too, between eating, honest! J xx

It's a Yamaha XT660Z Tenere (2008 onwards)... and before you ask, sadly it's not available in the US - as countless posts on the Tenere threads will attest!
I brought it over from the UK in 2008, then spent six months traveling all over the US... but then took it home again, sorry... I could have sold it a dozen times over, but I had other plans - mainly messing around with the suspension a bit, then entered the Heroes-Legend Dakar rally on it... ![]() (Yep, that's the same bike - 30,000 miles later!) There is loads more info about the Tenere on ADV if you search some of the dedicated threads... J xx |
