Hi Crawfie,

Good to hear from you again. I thought you were moving over. No?

Bikes, even second hand ones, are relatively expensive over here due I suppose to limited supply and import taxes. But, they do hold their value.

I'm very pleased with the XT660. I find it ideal for doing the mountain paths two up. Plenty of punch and comfortable. It is also great for the coast roads. I'd buy another that's for sure.

Anyway, you pop and put another long on the fire before you catch a chill. Me, I'll settle for the Ambre Solaire and Ray Bans .

Cheers,

Dickyb

What do you hear about Georgia and Syria? I'd like to try to ride up there from the Kingdom and check out the sights this Spring.
Hi Big Single,

Thanks for the interest. I'm pretty limited to where I can go currently and haven't been to either Georgia or Syria though they are both ambitions. You might want to contact Dave-In-Turkey who has done some research on his thread

That's right Dave, we are moving over around Aprilish time.
We did a 2 month bike tour in the summer between here and Turkey and covered about 8000 miles, it was my first chance to do a big trip now that the business has sold......and it was brilliant.
Been meaning to write a ride report, but can't seem to get my arse in gear.
Plus I'm about half way through a 6 month contract I took on when we got back doing some electronics training for a company in Teeside, then it will be off to sunny Turkey.

Cheers

Crawfie.

P.S the Mrs has a blog with part of the trip so far covered, it's at http://bev1211.wordpress.com/ if you want to check it out.

New Year, New Ride.

New year, new Sunday, time for a ride to see how much snow had fallen in the mountains. Mehmet tried to catch a rainbow on the way

We headed towards Gombe where I found Mehmet looking thoughtful

Seems as though we were going to the right of the slight incline with snow on it's head

after soaking up the view

..............but not before a cup of tea at a tearoom where men were playing the Turkish equivalent of dominoes

and wearing woolly hats

..........twenty minutes later and we were in the snow line

We tried to follow the pass where Dirk, the cazy German, and I went in the summer

.................but the wind was howling down the pass and the snow was about two foot deep.Suddenly a big gust blew up and took Mehmet with it

He was later found where he landed, poised and ready for action

.................Whilst indulging in our spot of craziness we met two more people who were even crazier than a certain crazy German that I met earlier in the year. Say Hi to Urr and Marla

who were snow camping for the weekend. They fortified us with raspberry tea which was delicious. Shortly afterwards I saw Marla looking a bit pensive

A blizzard was closing in and was about to engulf the TT

..................then I saw what she saw

Um, another night camping in this . I think I'd rather squirt bleach in my eyes

We left the happy couple to their ice tent and headed home, the back way.

Cheers,

Dickyb
