.......................But you don't need to be on two wheels to stay at Doug's place. A French lad whose name began with P (maybe it was Pourquoi) was on one

P had spent his summer hols unicycling around the Black Sea Coast as part of a university project, as you do. Fortunately, for us, Doug's place had been recommended to him by a fellow traveller because P gave us an hilarious presentation on his trip with Wheely, his unicycle. Followed by lessons

All too soon P had to pack up, push off and peddle

safe travels fella

Hey David,
Im glad you came up to see us, hope you had a good time.
Pierrick was the crazy guy on the unicycle.
the soviet UFO is Buzludja. Its one of my favorite places to visit. If I could, I'd buy it & restore it. Would make a cool hotel!

And I am glad that Terry's BMW didnt leave oil puddles all over the place. The forks were leaking as normal, but he had put a maxi pad on it, and as it didnt have a heavy flow this month, none hit the ground

Doug

Cheers Doug,

Thanks for filling in the blanks in my memory banks. Must admit the old neurons were on sensory overload made worse through sleep deprivation. If I'd known about Terry's maxi pad malarkey I'd have whipped it off his bike and suffocated him with it

Have fun in the States and hope to see you all in May/June. I leave you with

Two Cool Cats Chillin'

Cheers,

Dickyb

I lived 2 years in Izmir for work w/NATO (2007-2009)... & I must say I pretty much live vicariously through you!
Been lurking & following your thread since Jan 2010, but just joined the party this week.
Happy to say that I am an eniste & can't wait to retire in 10 years & move back to wonderful Turkiye with my wife & son.
I just learned to ride this Summer past & looking forward to riding Izmir w/my wife's family (bikers lol).
Hopefully the next 10 years go by fast & I grab a slot over at Incirlik in Adana before I get out of the Service so I can spin down for a ride!
Be safe & carry on!

Aha, that big bald one. The Dutch pirate blokey. Muffs put me on the scent, so to speak.

She's still watching and waiting

Hi JamaicanRider,

Thank you for your interest and kind words.

Juliet and I are coming up to our seventh year here in Turkey and every day is still a school day. Sometimes I get the urge to see new pastures in foreign lands. A trip in the hills and a chat with the locals cures me of that. After spending some considerable time looking for this particular grass we're not in a hurry to find any that looks slightly greener.

Stay safe and enjoy your service.

Cheers,

Dickyb
