Gombe-A pleasant day out!
The rains had stopped, albeit temporarily. Looking out of the window I could see a ray of multi coloured hope
![]() Better go for a ride then See ya pups Stay where you are Jasper ![]() This day's general area was the mountains and plateaus around Gombe, some 40kms North of Kasaba ![]() Which, from the ground looks likes this with Mt Akdag in the background ![]() Along the way we passed some cute little chaps ![]() Who later on in life would earn their keep in a similar fashion ![]() Past the reservoir ![]() where Mike was fiddling with his camera and not himself Up and over into the summer pastures ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() When Burkhard decided to frighten the locals ![]() and the local wildlife with his rendition of "The hills are alive...." ![]() Time for lunch at a fish restaurrant. Wherever there is a decent sized fast running stream you can usually find a trout farm and restaurant. Freshly grilled fish, baked potatoes, onions and peppers plus salad for less than a fiver. Bargain ![]() It was dark by the time we got back said the missus ![]() Cheers, Dickyb Dickyb screwed with this post 02-20-2009 at 07:34 AM |

The ride wasn't that recent Truth is I'm stuck here with man-flu. The wife, devoid of all sympathy, told me either to die quietly or "go play on that blooming computer" which is what I did.Weather and spirits in a much better mood today should be hillborne tomorrow Learned how to use your weapons of mass destruction to nuke your messages yet? Sunday-Time for Tomfoolery
Rejeb has the ability to take a decent looking bike and turn it into something else
![]() ![]() with nary a thought for the time it took it's designers to get it right in the first place He stripped off the plastic clothing but then fitted a remote starter. Cool to see the bike start with no human input apart from Rejeb pressing his remote inside his pocket Rejeb also thought it would be a good idea to bring his mate Bayram along for a trip offroad which is how a little Chinese 125cc commuter ended up in the Kasaba hills Note the yellow wellies ![]() Mehmet, not to be outdone, had a good idea of his own and decided to initiate Bayram into some off road tomfoolery. He found a suitable track ![]() and down Bayram went ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Once out of the snotty stuff Bayram couldn't resist celebrating ![]() Bayran reckons that next week he'll get a more suitable offroader, someting like..................................... a Honda StepThru I recorded todays malarky but unfortunately used one of these as the recording media ![]() DON'T ASK Cheers, Dickyb |

Spring has sprung........maybe!
There's been a change in the weather over the last couple of days from this
![]() to this ![]() The snow is still here but it's far enough away not to feel and close enough to see. Just how I like it New life is enjoying the warmth ![]() and so is Charlie who is the saddest pup I've ever clapped eyes on. Found by Joe and Tricia covered in ticks and on the last legs of a tragically short life if he hadn't been rescued ![]() Still, he's got lots to look at at his new home ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Not really a Ride Report I know, though I did have to jump off the bike to take the pics Just thought I'd share a lovely Spring day.Cheers, Dickyb |

Turkish Summer Time
Well the clocks sprung forward an hour in the early hours, it was Sunday and time for a ride. Bye Jasper
![]() Off with Mehmet to meet Zeki ![]() and to take a piccie of three riderless bikes. Wonder who parked them there ![]() Then off down to Dingly Dell through the woods ![]() where we spotted a goatherd and his charges ![]() After a short chat I was made an honorary goatherder, my herding "stick" reflected my ability/experience in the ancient art of goatherding ![]() We had a celebratory lunch to which a couple of the goatherders workers invited themselves ![]()

The cheeky chap, who must have a cupboard full of cheeky prizes he'd collected along the way, was a delight to watch as he moved ever closer to the food we passed his way. His mate, a young Kangol was much more shy, but then I reckon I would be if somebody had lopped the flaps off my ears with a pair of scissors so that I could hear intruders all the better. Urban myth or not I don't know
Then it was off again 'cos Mehmet has got a new bike, well Zeki's old XT350 ![]() on which he decided to do some contouring ![]() Arif turned up and joined in the fun on a XT125 ![]() and off we went to impress some more local fans ![]() Cheers, Dickyb |

Touring for a Change
Me and Zeki decided to forego the pleasures of throwing ourselves off cliffs and to go for a ride for a change. He emptied his pockets and produced this
![]() 125cc of Sym Wolf Classic fun machine. Note the lack of front mudguard, side panels and lights. Zeki like to travel light. The panniers ain't from the Touratech catalogue either. Off we go then................... |

..................we're off to Girdev Yol, dry and parched in summer, hopefully we'll find some water there if we can get through.
![]() Thats Akdag, White Mountain, in the background. In fact the mountain top is white all year round. When the snow melts the sun reflects of the stony mountain top rendering it white to the eye. Cunning, eh? ![]() On to Gombe reservoir. ![]() Judging by the water level it should be a drought free summer. ![]() ...................... Dickyb screwed with this post 04-12-2009 at 10:41 AM |
