I just got back from a trip a few weeks ago. I had that little $20 cover from ebay. Check out what happened:

Feel free to watch the whole thing or skip to 14:20 for the carnage. Be sure to switch to 720p.

If your buddy rides rocks I would try Flatland Racing skid plate rather than case guards. That same ride Daaang posted destroyed three different skid plates on two different bikes. It is a rock infested hell.

My LC4E went through two skidplates in two rides and still ended up with dented cases and rails. The only one I have tried that has survived a Shenandoah 500 intact and protected the engine and frame is the Flatland.

I bent the hell out of it but it saved the engine and I just pounded it back out. They are not pretty. But they are thick aluminum and will take a beating. Look at where my oil filter is and you can see why I am serious about skidplates.

question

Have the top off my crf450x 09 engine. Heard the trx450r 09 piston kit fits and operates ok in the 450x for longer ware and has the extra oil ring and longer scurt/skirt. This is the first time the engine has been pulled apart. Any advise welcome.

Dave at Rally Management service built that bike For one of his customers a few years back.
But I will have it's evil blue twin sister in my garage come Saturday
Then the fun begins as I start building a replica for my son So he may hopefully ride Baja Rally 2.0

do the Dakar bikes have a more stout subframe? That's the limitation for me for the desert camping trips. I recently found this, I think it's for the R, and really expensive, seems to come with a bunch of stuff I don't need.

http://www.50stunt.com/HONDA_CRF_450...mst-0304fh.htm

But just the frame would be awesome, no pegs. Anyone know of a way to have this made or anything like it around?
