If fitted with aftermarket (non-cat) exhausts, though, the heat problem is not so severe. In fact, in my experience, it's much less of a problem with the warm toasty buns than with very hot air being shed onto my lower legs as has been the case with many of the large I-4 bikes I've ridden.

Looking at all the spy shots, it's fitted with an underslung, under engine xorst.

A few thoughts.
1. Overall, although desguised, look and shape is too street oriented. 2. Alloy wheels 3. Tank has really a bump? If so, it looks more like a sport bike. 4. Size of rear wheel limit tire choices for offroad. I was hoping the strada aperta (open road) would be more GS-like than the multi-strada (various roads). This one looks more like a supermotard type of bike. I hope I'm wrong and as the desguise comes off, including wheels we will see a real GS type of bike. Lion Quote:

Yea, I merged this into the existing Strada Aperta mega-thread here in Beasts simply because this is where the topic has evolved over time, but it's one of those machines that's probably better placed in Road Warriors.
FWIW, I dig the thing.

Open road does not evoke off-road to me. If anything it's a more honest name than multi strada.

I tried to steer the thread that way last year (see post 24, etc). That said, personally speaking, I do see this camo'd Ducati being a GS competitor. But then again, I don't view GSs, Stroms, Multis and such as a dual sports either.

17" front/rear wheels shod with Pirelli Corsa's......yeah ok.
Somebody move this thread to Road Warriors where it (obviously) belongs. |

Ooh yeah, I could be tempted to trade my TDM in for one of those. Only trouble is it will no doubt cost a lot more, and require more servicing (TDM valves checked every 40,000 k's for instance, and do you still have to change the cam belts on Ducks every 20,000 k's?).
Then there is the issue of far less dealers than Yamaha, but you can't be too sensible about these things can you? Emotion does/should play a large part in buying a bike, I suspect I might be "gone" after a ride, it looks like it would tick a lot of boxes for me. I don't know how many Ducati would sell outside of Europe though if the TDM is anything to go by. |

Big issue for me will be the wince inducing price. Word has it £14000 GBP. No fucking way...
