I was hoping the strada aperta (open road) would be more GS-like than the multi-strada (various roads).

This one looks more like a supermotard type of bike.

I hope I'm wrong and as the desguise comes off, including wheels we will see a real GS type of bike.

IMHO, they're gonna go the KTM SMT route, and I love it.

So do I. Ordered one back in January - Ducati UK accepted my order, for delivery, "later in the year". My own priority is for 17" wheels with Diablo Corsas - as long as I can get up the kilometre of off-road to my house, that'll do me nicely.

Can't wait...

Can you give us any details on model name, etc?

Not yet I can't. Ducati showed the machine to dealers at Milan last year - the guys I've ordered through (Snells in the UK) reckon it's the best-looking Ducati in many a year, but Ducati swore them to secrecy or death. They did intimate that there'd be a S version, but with not as big a spec/price difference as (e.g.) the 1198->1198S. As soon as I get more info coming through, I'll post it here. They were pretty clear that it's going to hit the showrooms this year, so I wouldn't be surprised to see a launch well before Milan in November.

cheers
Richard

Is it going to replace the Multistrada or will it be offered as another alternative?

Multi's are already a discontinued model, according to sources I've read.

Something like "1098 motor, 140 HP, traction control, we're going to see a super-tourer in Milan."

Looks speculative, just like this thread.

Hopefully a lower spec/engined one coming too?
I was surprised to see a Multistrada 620 come out, but it seems
reasonable..

Most of us don't need/want a 140hp bike, but I don't wanna go
under 70hp tho

There's a thread over on Beasts about the Strada Aperta that is probably the bike your talking about.
