Can someone definitively answer this: Can the panniers/cases be put on the CF/sport model????
According to the Denver area dealer that I talked to - yes.

A color-matched kit will be available by the time the bikes are shipped to the dealers and can be purchased at that time. Also the same for all of the other additional parts that come on the Touring model. He told me that most of the people who had put down deposits on Sport models were doing this. Also, that all of the sport models that were ordered so far were the black ones.

Thanks for your response. I was guessing as such but my dealer very new to Duc line and not sure of his response. BTW tho', I got information, not verified, that U.S. deliveries not until April? Of course rumors abound but anyone verify this or more likely, anyone heard the same thing?

According to the same Denver dealer - yes, April is the official projected date for the first Multis to arrive at the dealerships in the US. He also added that it is his opinion that they will actually begin to arrive in May. He says that this has been his experience with Ducati's new models in the past - about a month longer than the original date. That may just be true in the Denver area though.

Why is this bike in Beasts and not Road Warriors?

It is a street bike.

FWIW - The original production Hypermotard 1100 was shown at EICMA like the 1200 Multistrada, and they were released in May of that year. I was 1st in line at my shop, and didn't get mine until June.

Ah, but it has a switch that selects "Enduro".

Bummer, so the casual remark made by sales manager turns out to be more than casual! G

A BMW buddy of mine who frequents many of the websites seems to think the interest in the Duc MS 1200 much higher among BMW owners than Duc owners?

Your buddy may well be right. I've been getting that same impression myself.

If so, then Mother Duc has accomplished exactly what they set out to do. This Multi has been promoted as major competition for the GS's all along.

I don't know if it can go head to head with a farkled-out GS in the back country - probably not - but for everything else, which is what most owners will generally end up doing with either bike, I'd say that they're at least equal and in most cases better.

If the Multis end up with no major design, mechanical, QC or reliability issues that Ducati just denies and continues to build into the bike year after year, then the Beemerco's got a BIG problem, IMO.

It looks the business, but 20l tank and a chain drive kills it for me.

Notwithstanding servicing costs

What are the servicing costs?

There's no empirical evidence of what they will be. The reports are that the valve check intervals will be greater than 7500 miles, but no hard numbers are available.

For that matter, no true fuel range is available as we don't know how thirsty the engine will be.

Chain drive is a surety.

So, two of your three reasons for not considering the bike are speculative.

Personally, I'm going to wait until I have facts.

Why would chain drive kill it for you? I'm a relative newbie so I'm looking to learn :)

Motocrossers are all chain drives...made specifically for dirt...links are sealed...chain is serviceable/replaceable....
