I have a serious lust for a CBX engine. I think it is a wicked cool design, even if it never lived up to expectations. While i would love a stock one, I would really love to find a wrecked one. A CBX engine deserves a home in a nice chop, where the engine can be seen and admired.

perhaps an 82 CBX?

in 72, Honda was still in the throws of the 750 with other smaller 4 cyl models coming out. Kawasaki was eyeing the 900 but that didin't arrive for a few more years. I thought the CBX came in the late 70s, 78-79 maybe.

I'm starting to think the Charlotte/Gastonia area is a bigger tag graveyard than the Outer Banks...

Me too. But it's so close to Asheville and Greensboro/Winston Salem you'd think that someone would take their bikes on a little adventure. I mean shoot. I'm thinking about going after this thing from Raleigh tonight. The weather is great and the night air is great and riding bikes is great. Not sure why it isn't moving.

I need to head out and grab a tag, but this won't be the one. From where I'm at, all roads to Charlotte tend to be long, straight, and boring. Of course, I could make an interesting ride of it if I shoot northwest and then head in to Gastonia from the north side, but at that point I've put 150 miles into one leg of the trip. Too much for me this weekend, but feasible if it is still around next weekend.

Hopefully on the Transalp? I just want to see it. I always liked those.

cbx

You are correct, the first cbx bikes were in the early 80s. The cbx I have is an 82 road race version and was never street legal.Sorry about the misprint.

current tag

I would have thought one dee hillbilly chasers would slide down out dee hills and grab this one. If they don't I'll try to git one of my local boys to grab it and carry it over to the other side of charlotte for the flatlanders.

The tag is about 20 minutes from my house. I thought someone would have grabbed this by now since there are a few taggers in the area. I may go grab it this weekend if no one else does and toss it to the hills or towards the middle of the state.
