Yep....it's me. Put that next tag a bit closer to home for me & I'll grab it on the KTM. She's a little dirty still from a great dual sport outing a couple of weekends back but otherwise doing great.

Next to a river that separated two Peoples, along a long and well used trading path that basically went from Richmond to Atlanta area, before the area was "discovered". One of the names has been on here several times, the other one, the People to the south were Tuscarora

Occoneechi Village. Well whats left. It was much larger for about 10 yrs but the town would not offer help to maintain it. John Blackfeather could not do it by himself so it went away and just this little bit was the replacement. Behind the courthouse, downtown Hillsborough, access by the south end of Cameron St dead end. Just east of the NC 86 bridge crossing the Eno. The Eno River is the left side and back tree line in the picture.

I considered this for the tag as a file photo but then discovered it had already been used and so many folks already know this place

So from the folks who lived here before to the ones who then discovered the place

***, a Federal-style plantation house built in 1815 just outside historic ****, N.C. was home to William Kirkland and four generations of the Kirkland family for the next 170 years. In 1984, a nephew of the widow of the last direct Kirkland descendant sold the house to Richard H. Jenrette, who has meticulously restored and furnished ***** with period antiques and decorative arts, including many original Kirkland furnishings.

There is a gate that closes about 8. It is worth being there with the gate open!
