Question do you have photoshop? The reason I ask is because some of your photos kick but but you can't see the detail in the shadows. Photoshop would help with this. I find myself bringing some of you images into photoshop just to see what lies in the shadows

Hey Brian,

Part of the magic for me is the true picture captured.
I keep everything unedited to keep with the true spirit of the ride..
I also post the pics in the order they were taken whenever I'm out.......
Not every picture is winner, but I choose what I put up carefully as I feel each picture represents the moment........

Hiya Peach! I've been lurking and enjoying your pics for a short while.

I hate it when so-called photographers Photoshop or modify images to make them look "better", when to me they look completely awful!

I've had friends tell me "why don't you blur that?", "why don't you adjust the color of this?", GAH!!! NO!!! If it wasn't in the pic when I took it I'm not putting it in!

That's the main reason why you got my attention and I've been lurking and enjoying your pics, while trying to learn how to take better pics.

Here's my attempt to mimic you:

Very hard taking the pic without taking my eyes off the road, took multiple ones and later found out it was the 1st pic I took that got the best image. Not exactly what I was going for but I loved it. (I was trying to get more of the spinning wheel). :-)

I used to take a lot of pics of other riders (while riding) when I used to ride with a group, but it's been a while since they disbanded and I lost practice. You inspired me to take pics anyway, especially the scenery. And in this series of pics I attempt to do just that. I need more practice.

I always do What You See Is What You Get. My main thing is learning the camera to see what I see.

I still got a long ways to go in training it.

That is precisely the crux of the biscuit. A light meter reads a white wall or a black wall as 18% gray. The change in the exposure (a tweak of the apeture or shutter speed) will compensate for the light meter being "fooled."

Back when there was film, we could expose for the shadows and develop for the highlights in black and white. In color, we had to choose to expose for shadows, highlights, or hit the middle and lose both... and that was it.

A photograph is a representation of what the mind saw. If what you saw is not what you got, you can change your mind or edit your photo.
