Hey Dp, I was wondering since I'm headed your way this spring have you ever experienced riding during a earthquake?

Sorry for getting off topic but I was just curious if you had and maybe what to expect.

I may have ridden during an earthquake and not even realized it. We have little ones that are recorded and sometimes not even felt.
Many of the local pics on here travel on and around the San Andreas Fault line.

I'd def. prefer to be out and about in the wide open space if a big one hits.
The last large earthquake was Loma Prieta in 1989.
That was a mess.
And HUGE wake up for SF.

I was in school in AZ at the time and was informed of the earthquake and no one knew anything other than it was big. I couldn't get through to anyone.
My Nana lived right in one of the worst hit areas.
The Marina.
She lived in the 16th floor of a building and the whole N face of the apt. was all windows, which shattered as a result of the quake.

It makes you think of the extreme force of nature and how it waits for no one.

On a not so somber note, I'm trying to finish up my work for the AM so I can get out and enjoy this crazy clear and sunny weather!!!!! (still 45f out @ 0940)

For those of you still looking at snowdrifts. Most of Northern California was full sunshine and mid to upper 60's by early afternoon... bikes were out everywhere.

Unfortunately, it won't be as pleasant if water rationing is needed later this summer... a lot of the PNW has only received 1/2 of the normal rainfall (or less) this winter.

South Beach

Gave myself a few hours to ride today.
Decided at the last minute to head out to the Pt Reyes lighthouse, but when I got out there they weren't letting cars through.
As amusing as it would seem to be fully clad in gear sitting on a shuttle bus with tourists, I opted to take a 'right' and see where that would take me....
South Beach.

By the time I started to take this video, I didn't realize the road was toward the end. As you'll see by the vid abruptly ending at a parking lot.
