Yikes, that looks a bit painful.
Thankfully it wasn't any worse.
My bike/moose encounter left me with a compound radius/ulna fracture, broken ribs, collapsed lungs, concussion, smashed up bike, and a deep appreciation for how crashing sucks.
Sending the healing vibes your way DP

As a "Scaphoid fracture veteran" I can say that the best thing is patience...but we all know the "P" word is not part of TDP..(or my) vocabulary.
Hang tough, peach!

Back to the bakery for a re-fill

Got a chance to talk to a guy, about 35 yo, who was 'hoofing it' around the US, trying to get to OR.

He was sitting outside the general store, reading a book and smoking a hand rolled cigarette.
He looked like he hadn't had a shower in days, but his face was really tanned and clean.
He had dirty blond hair that was growing one length to his shoulders and tucked back behind his ears.

He sat unashamed with a sign that said 'traveling need help'.
Don't we all.

Several times I walked past him and each time smiled or nodded.
Before I got in to my vehicle to take off I said 'hey, where you headed?'

'Oregon' he replied with a southern drawl.

'Where are you from?' I saked...

'Originally from Ohio, but have been in Texas for the last 12. Put away.'

Hmm, so you just rolling around? taking a break from things?

Ya, you don't know what freedom is until it's taken away from you.

Yes, I know.

A boxer's fracture is a fracture of the fifth or fourth and fifth metacarpal as they traverse the outside of the palm. The scaphoid is the small bone on the thumbside that connects directly to the radius.

Not that I'm suggesting one is better than the other. They are just as different as Ducatis and Triumphs.

This is correct. I worked for a hand surgeon. A boxers fracture...think when a boxer land a punch.

TDP, I'm sorry you are broken. I can only hope you heal soon. Are they talking surgery or conservative (casting) treatments?

I had one as a kid. the conversation with the doctor went something like this:

doctor looking at xray: so son, how did you break your hand?
me: I fell during lacrosse practice.
doctor looking at xray: who did you try to punch as you were falling?
