Cry Greetings TDP

I've yet to find an explanation for why we all fell in love with the motorcycle.
For some it's an identity.
For some it's a means of transportation.
But for all, it is a source of joy and great contentment.

My first solo ride was on a school mates Yamaguchi scooter circa 1979.
The vision of my imminent collision with his boundary fence is still with me after all these years (throttle/brake coordination took a while to master)..
The bug bit hard that day and I have owned motorcycles ever since.
Been the round of road burners, off roaders, trials, enduro etc but the constant is allways the feeling of exhillaration when you lift up the side stand and roll off.

Your pic's strike a chord, as for many of us getting or being there amongst it all is an important component of the ride, aroma's from forests, sea and weather, rythmic drone of exhaust and chain it's all this and more.
Possibly because we are exposed to the elements and not insulated inside a tin box as we travel.
Many thanks for sharing your experiences with all of us.

Sorry to hear of TDP & Le Tigre's recent pain.
Hope the rehab is coming along as planned.

Hoofing it..........

Still trying to absorb patience from my friends here, I decide to take my camera with me this time on one of my walks and see if I can't find some peace through the shutting of my camera lens...........
of course not dropping it almost daily will help in the latter part of that operation.

The good hoof...

Our lovely state flower, the yellow Poppy.....

When I was a child (no comments from the peanut gallery please), my sister Lisa and I used to have to walk to and from the bus stop every weekday morning and afternoon...........

We would always stop at a certain house at the top of our street.

By the mailbox there was always this patch of long, green, tubular grass with little yellow flowers on the end.
My sister(s) called it sour grass.

They said you could eat it.
I thought I remember all of us eating it.
Happy days, stopping and grabbing a handful of it, trying to make them last all the way to the bus stop or back to the house.

THIS, is sourgrass.
It wasn't till years later that they told me that was where all the neighborhood dogs peed.

did I mention they were evil?

ah, yes, the walk...

The not so good hoof....
Ya. I know. Lotion.

I have this odd feeling this wont be a problem for me today...

And here you go folks,
It just seems so wrong.........

Jeez, finally.............
Oh wait......

How do I plan on making money to replace the bike?

By selling tickets to the gun show...

Oooooohh, more roadside culinary finds..........

I also used to think that 'sky scrapers' were these planes, scraping the sky.......
163. Knock yourself out........

Ok.
Wasn't planning on it.

The anti-baseball bat box.........

Do NOT eat the 'special'!!

Still heading out D st....on foot

So, I end up going out a lot too far.
I had a lot on my mind and it felt good to just be out and about.
Bike or not.
I started to hurt a little and was thinking this wasn't such a great idea when my buddy Tom saw me and pulled over to ask if I was OK.

I gladly jumped in for some water and a ride down the hill
He was on his way to town to get diesel.
Tom is an avid rider too.

Not sure who got a bigger chuckle out of that - me or your sisters.

Thanks for sharing and great photos!

That brought back memories. My brother and I used to play indians in the woods and try to 'live off the land'. We had an old Boy Scout handbook that listed edible wild plants and sourgrass was one of them. I still pick a a bit and chew it once in a while while working in my flower beds. Would'nt want to live off it but it reminds me of some good times.

Get well DP and keep the pics and commentary coming. Very enjoyable.

John
