Not a brilliant photo of my setup but these cheap quad bags work well:

Not the slightest waterproof but I keep my rubber gloves, water bottle and other junk in there. To keep them forward enough we found some clip on bungees that we route across the front of the tank and that keeps the bags from hitting my knees.

At speed, without the bungee, they tend to take flight and end up on top of the knees.

After owning it over a year, I finally took my DR on a multi-day ride. About 1100 miles in 3 days. Stock seat, but ProCycle low footpegs really seemed to help comfort. Only the on the 3rd day, the last 200 miles were painful. 99.9% pavement, even though I was surrounded by dirt .... my travelling companion was on a small street bike and we stayed on the black stuff. Here's my bike near Lida, Nevada:

Averaged about 51 mpg (US) despite some pretty bad headwinds. Maximum speed 82.5 mph per GPS, uphill at 7000 feet. I backed off then, as between the winds and the D606's, it was starting to weave a bit. Rear D606 is almost half gone after about 1400 miles. Front is starting to scallop. I need to ride more dirt - or get different tires. Would a front fender brace, or smaller supermoto fender, help stability? I know the trunk doesn't help but it had very little weight in it.

Here are a few pics from a 3 day trip this weekend.
I am using Wolfman Racks with Seahorse 720 cases. I also have a VStrom 650 windscreen, Oxford heated grips, Sargent seat, IMS tank, and other miscellaneous farkles.

My loaded set up...

I've gone through a few versions over the years, I really like the pelican cases after trying various soft bags and GIVI stuff. Still fine tuning things but, it works well for my forest camping and ADV touring.
