What I did this weekend or How to ruin a perfectly good GS
I picked this up from Big JohnD's garage a while back and after spending the Summer collecting parts and such I finally decide to start putting it together Friday.

After 3 days of work this is what I ended up with. I still need to get the interior finished and see about some trim but it actually goes down the road pretty good.

The resto came out great!! I just installed a Sputnik on my F650 last weekend and have been riding it around the town and to/from work. One advantage of a sidecar is that cagers do notice you.

The Patrol has company now. I never should have started with the hacks, I think it's a disease.

Xpatriot,
It came with that mirror and I was going to leave it off and fill the holes but a friend of mine's wife is always talking about how she would like a mirror for the chair on their Patrol so I figured I would leave it on just to bug him.

I agree with everyone else, looks fantastic.
I guess it's not weird to have a mirror on a hack if it makes the monkey feel safer....it might be a good place to add a spotlight/driving light if you want to in future. |

Are the brake and turn lights stock or did you add them yourself?
What size diameter are they? They attract a lot of eye attention.

Xpatriot,
I rarely have a monkey in the hack but for now I think I'll keep the mirror, just to be different if nothing else. krellheat, Those are the stock lights on the back of the Friendship II hacks, 3" diameter.

Looks good DirtyDR
Hey, If you haven't done so and if it has the torsion suspension be sure to look at the leaves and see if any of them are broken or bad. You can modify VW Bug leaves to fit if you need any. If it has the large bushing in it you can get a replacement, if required, from Dauntless. My wife JoAnne insists that we have a rear view mirror on the sidecar. She is happy if she can look behind us No biggie. I am happy if she can't see the speedometer.

Claude,
I stripped everything down and checked it especially the spring leafs. Nice tip on the VW leafs though I was wondering where one would find them. I cleaned and regreased the bushing and it looked pretty good but I think Dauntless still has some around. I did get the subframe from Dauntless and I will admit I am really impressed with it. Thanks for the tips.
