So, who has encountered the scariest crap in the road? I'll start.

One time on I94 I encountered an angle-iron ramp from an equipment trailer lying in the middle of the fast lane. I had already seen its mate in the middle lane, so I had rolled off a bit, but it still appeared suddenly from under a pickup. I rolled over it cleanly, but if I had hit one of the legs sticking up, it would have been ugly.

Thought I would have at least dented a rim, but no. I did need to toss my shorts, though. I wasn't tailgating, but at road speed, what seems a safe distance can close up in a hurry.

p.s. Whose Puch is that? Tempts me to get mine out.

My uncle Jim, up in Spooner. He has all kinds of cool old stuff, and I dropped in on him this weekend to say hi.

Commuting south on 169 near Cedar Lake Road, evening rush traffic moving fast but heavy. I see a bicycle bouncing above the cars several cars ahead of me. It bounces up and I can see it then it disappears behind the cars if front, where's it gonna go next. I just held position and it bounced off the the right. Sometimes it's better to luck than good

I was wondering who picks up all the crap that morans leave in the road.

I had a ladder in the road one time, it was a long time ago though. It wasn't in front of me luckily. I've seen mufflers, but that was a long time ago too. Today it's mostly motor oil patches at stoplights.

A guy told me once he hit a starter in the middle of the road. It didn't end well.

I got my tire plugged!

Thank you, and many thanks Spike for dinner. Thanks JJ for coming out. Much fun!

Next time I tell you "these clouds don't look too heavy, I doubt we'll see much rain out of these", do me a favour and slap me about and throw me in the basement.

Drive home was BAD. Much rain. A tempest, nay a virtual typhoon it was.

Shouldn't have driven in it really.

I definitely don't have anyones story beat, but I was driving north on 100 one time, and I saw a Christmas tree leap in the air many cars ahead. Some nut job had one very poorly loaded and it came off his car somehow. Much swerving of automobiles ahead of me. I was keeping well back and allowing space as I always do, so I had plenty of time to adjust to the situation. Quite exciting though.

He stops in the middle of the freeway to remove an 8' long 2 x 4. Looks like they are taking the removal of debris seriously for motorcyclists' safety. Thought it was pretty cool and gave him thumbs up.

Just thought I'd share...

I made it as far as the U of M before it was readily apparent that our prognosticating was way the hell off. Just a few large drops and a lot of wind until the last mile and a half, then the sky opened up with a vengeance.

Amazing how hard it is to get out of soggy jeans and socks.

Was watching the lightning as I approached MSP from Hudson. Pulled into the drive as the first raindrops started. By the time I was out of my gear, the monsoon hit. WIN!

Shelter from the storm

My car is spending its first night in the garage at the new digs. While I was out riding the Bonnie today, Colleen cleaned all of the stuff from our move and cleared out a garage stall for me. She's quite a gal that gal of mine!
