I cannot bring myself to refer to them as "vinyl".

Wise man, since the best records are shellac and run at 78 RPM.

Some of them run at 45 rpm. I'm in the middle of a project digitizing my Dad's old 45s to make CDs for my siblings for Christmas. Quite the hiss-pop festival. So Smooth by Perry Como was so taco'ed that the needle would go airborne every 180 degrees - I skipped that one. Otherwise I'm getting an education in 40's and 50's big band and jazz - Bobby Hackett, Glenn Miller, Harry James (In Hi-Fi!), Ray Anthony, Nat "King" Cole, Jackie Gleason...the list goes on. This has proved to be an excellent snow day activity.

Too much snow

After clearing the driveway yesterday I decided that the DRZ should come out for a spin. I made it all the way down to the cul-de-sac (100yards) turned around and back to the garage with out falling over. The rear tire found plenty of traction much to the dismay of the front tire. It wanted to slide sideways instead of roll forwards. Might be time to park it in the basement....

Go figure. Snow and ice are just as slippery this year, as they were in previous years.

Last year the snow and ice wasn't as slippery.......due to the lack of both!

Put in some fresh gas, fired up the sled, started up fine and everything looks OK!

Noticed that licence expired over the summer. Uh oh. Just looked at renewal fee, $78.50 for 3 years.

Jeez, I better have groomed trails and a hooters bar every 50 miles on the trails for this much.

That $78.50 seems steep, given that a motorbickle is only 16 bucks or so a year.

Don't say anything though, or they'll put the price of motorcycle tabs up.

Here's some more advice - if yer going to buy carburettor rebuild kits for yer IC engine powered lawn / snow equipment, thinking that when you need that stuff you'll fix it, try and make the effort to at least buy the RIGHT rebuild kit.

I guess it's going to be, but I'm not as thrilled about it as my old one.

Are you going to put lights and things on it?
