They suck compared to Wisconsin. Can't get perch at a MN fish fry, sadly.

Not all. Went to one last year at Our Lady of Grace that was fantastic. Fish was prepared by Tin Fish, malt vinegar was available (which should be mandatory) and the sides included both baked potatoes AND a meatless pasta dish. The best part? Wally The Beerman was there selling BEER. Plus, there's a dessert table and live music. Best. Fishfry. EVER.

My father in law always fed perch to his cats. 1 year, we went to Mille Lacs and came home with a bucket of 1 lb jumbos. I filleted, breaded and fried them. Bon Bon's dad looked at some and said, "You sure these are done??"

I said, "I am positive and if you microwave them till they are dry, I will never make you fish again."

We polished off lots of fish. I heard him tell Doris later, "That Tom can make fish any time, that was pretty good."

I thought the perch fishery on Lake Michigan collapsed. Has it come back???

Yum. For my money I'd rather catch a mess of smaller perch than wait around for walleye.

You are correct about Lake Michigan. I think most commercial perch fishing is in Erie. Probably some from inland lakes in Canada as well, Lake Winnipeg? I know we get a ton of walleye from there.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that if the best thing that can be said about a fish fry is that some quasi-celeb beer hawker is there... well, that doesn't say much for the damn FISH FRY.

Why all the hate?

I think yer all missing the point. If yer lookin for haute cuisine this aint it. It's all about the experience
Some of the fish is really quite good, crispy and tasty but I have always said fish just tastes better in a church basement.

If ya don't care for fish, join us for Enchilada dinner at Our Lady of Guadalupe later in the season

This week is St.Albert the Great, a veritable circus with Father Joe workin the crowd

Besides, it's for a good cause, the Vatican needs funds to buy themselves a new Pope!

You weren't there, man. If a church is having Tin Fish fry up their fish for them then, mark my words, it's going to be damn tasty. It's probably a good thing that they only do it once during Lent. YMMV.

Fishy

Kozy Korner in North Hudson does a prety good job of fish. Nothing fancy but all u can eat for $13. General Sam's in Somerset has been good as well. Just my 2 cents.

Making me hungry just thinking about it. Carry on.

Emended, for the better, I think.

The fish fry we love to hate is Bob's Sports Club in Hudson; perch is the preferred option. With a little more ambition, go to Joe's Valley, on HWY 10 between Prescott and Ellsworth.
