Speaking of vinyl records, you should be playing yours on this.

I already have a Rega Planar 2. It's old though, I bought it in 1988, but it is in very good shape.

I would very much like to upgrade it. I don't think the RP1 would be much of an upgrade (especially if I retrofit the drive motor), but the new one (RP6 is it?) would be very nice. They do the RP6 in the Union Jack scheme as well, which is tasty, but I prefer simple colour schemes for my audio components.

That and a tube amp to play it through would be lovely.

I have had to put those little dreams on the back burner for now though.

Anyway, a week ago I finally put the floor spikes on my speakers, and I was amazed at the improvement in sound quality. Mainly towards the upper end of the midrange.

Very happy about that.

Rega RP6. $2000 (With Exact 2 Cartridge) of loveliness.

Maybe one day.

It's amazing how much difference little actions like that can make.

It makes me think that getting heavy curtains over the windows and a big, soft rug in that room are very important additions, before I do anything else with the actual audio system. I always planned to do those things at some point, now I am certain I need to do them.

All this, just to make Motorheads "Ace of Spades" sound just right.

Are we back to the sword swallowing discussion?

Pretty nice here in Pansy's hot tub. Except that I called the house phone to get a beer and no one picked up.

Ace of Spades. Cool. Liked it when they played in the Young Ones living room.

Both very good, although Alexei Sayles "just make stupid noises" was hard to beat.

$2000 for a record player?

I guess I bought a $2000 eight track player! It had a free boat attached to it!

Yup. Of course it's all personal preference. You have to REALLY like just listening to music to warrant lashing out that kind of cash. Of course, like any passtime, you can pretty much spend what you want.

How about this beautiful EAR discmaster?

Only $28,500.

Of course, you need an amplifier and speakers too.

I don't anticipate buying one of these, ever.
