Actually, they were well worn out before they were "heated" a bit at the fire, the warming had no effect on their usefullness...

For a legendary company they are falling down a bit. Too bad. I had a bad experience with the re-working of my Roadcrafter too - c'est la vie

Given the issues they are allegedly having with Sidi, they should just source soles elsewhere. It doesn't add up anyway - if Sidi is having such problems, what does this mean for their ability to supply the boots? They need soles fer those fer cripes sake.

Good point. Must be more profit in selling new boots.

That is what is a bit confusing for me, AFAIK you can still buy CTB's with the wedge sole, and Sidi is supplying them, so if they have soles to mount to boots, they must have soles, right?

I'll let you know how the "other" Sidi soles work out.

Yes cleys link was to a poem about it (IIRC). I thought it was a Minnesotan legend from native Americans or something - a creature that steals people away.

Must google now.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wendigo

Quote:
The wendigo (also known as windigo, weendigo, windago, waindigo, windiga, witiko, wihtikow, and numerous other variants)[1] is a creature appearing in the legends of the Algonquian people.
It is thought of variously as a malevolent cannibalistic spirit that could possess humans or a monster that humans could physically transform into. Those who indulged in cannibalism were at particular risk,[2] and the legend appears to have reinforced this practice as a taboo.
Hmmm. Rather more sinister than a creature that just steals people away. Eats 'em up. I wonder if it puts them in a pie, and what sort of crust it prefers?

I cannot find a flaw in this reasoning. But obviously I'm missing something.

It probably comes down to Gravys point. Boots are a higher priority because of $$s.

I like stitch stuff but I'm not buying CBTs, mainly because of this.

I contacted that factory resole place, and never heard back from them. Not a good start, but maybe they were really busy or something.

Huh. A couple of guys I used to race with all used them. Said they did good work and got their boots back to them quickly.

That could well be true. I only sent them an inquiry, maybe it wasn't interesting enough. It may be that if you stick to sending them the boots they show on the website, they do a great job, which would be fair enough.

I might see if the boot menders in Elk River can resole my boots.
