Thanks for the pic and info! I just found a service manual download and it had a nice, large diagram. The cables and everything are correct. I guess I was expecting a 'plunger' like on my Hawk as the carbs are pretty much the same design. So it would seem that the springs on mine are toast. The bike has 53000+ miles on it so I won't fault them.... even Honda can't make stuff that bulletproof. LOL. I wonder if swapping over the plungers from a Hawk would work. Seems like a poor design on the Alp, esp. considering the do it all design of the bike. Obviously the cheaper route is to buy a similar spring and cut it down like you did. Great shot of the package too for the right size spring.

Make sure the little black rubber/neoprene/polymer or whatever seals are present and in good shape.

Yep, they are. I'm trying to find an actual pic of the Hawk plunger to post as a comparison..... my internet is acting up....... I'll edit this if I find one.

Turns out the Hawk site was down for maintenance. Here is what the choke plunger looks like on them. Could be a good mod if they just swap over. Do I feel like stripping my Hawk down.... THAT is the question. LOL

Interesting......

I don't believe the TA carbs have a port that would receive the long tip on the Hawk plunger.

Others may have better photos of the carb.

The TA cables are also sensitive to correct routing

Hi Mikello,
welcome here and a nice bike you've got. The 2. pic shows hard knott pass, doesn't it? Been there 14 and 16 years ago with my Triumph on our journeys from Germany to the Isle of Man. Real highlight of the tour! If I'd be living there I had to find a reason to go over the pass every day ...

Yes that picture was of the Hard Knot Pass last year! the 3rd pic was at Black Forest in Germany. Dont know if you've been there but i wouldn't mind getting lost in that scenery again
