You know you are getting older when downsizing is no longer an idea but a reality. I have been in the plannng stages of moving to a smaller location and that means I can't keep all the parts that I have. Boxed up this stuff takes a lot of storage room.
Since 99% of all the Transalps I restore end up being painted the 1990 red color I have little reason to hang onto 1989 white pieces. These parts are just way too nice to be stripped and paint over, that would be a crime. So, this is just a heads up notice, they will be listed in the flea market soon and most likely on other sites as well. I wanted to make sure everyone here had a fair notice first, since finding parts of this quality and condition will most likely be very few and very far apart once these are gone. None of this is cheap.

Clutch replacement on an 89 TA 600 looks to be a fairly straight forward proposition without too many complications, open access and no special tools required. Am I kidding myself? Timing belt replacement info needed as well. I have two prospective purchases in mind. Not seen in person yet. One needs clutch, according to present owner, the other requires a "timing belt change"(chain??). Both bikes appear to be well cared for and well preserved based on photos. I am aware of the CDI problems as well as the output shaft/fr sprocket issues. All things being equal, which of the two, clutch or timing chain represents the greatest pain in the ass/cost???
All help appreciated.

I used an air tool for removal. While in gear, you can placed a long rod all the way through the rear sprocket and against the swing arm on both sides, avoiding the spokes, and tighten. |

Thanks but I don't need the wheels at this time, I have a nice front wheel that I will be selling if I ever get it listed. Some of these pieces in the photo have already been spoken for anyway.
