BigDog--TransArkansasTrail---TART

The following ride will depict a 1,100 mile ride I did on my WR250R down thru Arkansas on the TART.
This route was created by DRZCharlie (AdvRider--screen name)
I've ridden in Arkansas a lot over the years--but this would take me to many new places I may have never found.
I rode it alone and after getting to the Louisiana border I just "winged" it back North and home
getting into Oklahoma on the way.
Here's my story.

The Ride starts in beautiful downtown Blue Eye, Missouri-----population about 178 ?
And goes all the way to Louisiana.
Almost the whole ride is on dirt and rock roads.
A bike less than 650cc was recommended----and I agree after riding it.

I timed the peak fall colors of the season for this ride perfectly and it made it so beautiful.

Anyway----here's a trailer video I thru together---enjoy !!!!

A few pics
Starting with downtown Blue Eye, Missouri

The whole story will be told over the next few days.

And will start with lawnmower races in Blue Eye---yes, lawnmower races.

If your bike weighs more than 400lbs. You might not make it.

You know I'm in.... You mentioned in your video about the route from Eureka Springs to Oark. Doc Lewall laid that one out Mark. It's a fun route, but he deserves the credit. The man is a human GPS.

Glad you pointed the credit out to me---thank you Dr. Lewall---it was one of the favorite parts of the ride. Although at one point the riding really got hard climbing steep hills with huge imbedded rocks---that wasn't so bad--but it was 2" deep in wet leaves and it was so slick I worried I'd hurt myself out there by myself.

Yes---I agree--it is just all good with very few people in most of the state.

Blue Eye

The Ride starts in beautiful downtown Blue Eye, Missouri-----population about 378 ???????

Not much in Blue Eye---everythings pretty much closed down.
I did meet some very nice people there.

I finally had to ask someone about the name Blue Eye---hope I remember this right.

The guy telling me this said they were 2 stories how the town got it's name.
One I remember for sure-----one of the first settlers in the town was a black man
who had Blue Eyes. The other story was another fellow that had Blue Eyes.

Anyway--that was the story I got from the locals.

I like to post pictures of things I saw ----not just all riding---it's what riding around the country is to me.

No---you can't eat at the Blue Eye Diner.
Looks like it had been closed for a long time.

I asked some friendly folks where I could eat and they told me to go North out of town about 5 miles.
I ate here twice----at the beginning of my ride and at the end.
The food is awesome and they have cobbler---not pie-----cobblers.

It was at the Hawg Heaven I heard about the lawnower races-----"The lawn WHAT races" ??????

Lawnmower she said-----"You ain't never seen a lawnmower race" ??????
"No, I replied---not even on TV-------or JackAss" ??????
I rode way out in the country----way out in them Arkansas boonies. I was a little afraid of what might be out
at a lawnmower race----crazies ??? drunks ????? weirdo's ?????

All I saw was a nice bunch of plain ordinary folks having a whole lot of fun. Lot's of kids were here and everybody
was getting in on the fun.

Sorry for the blurry pictures---they were fast I'm tellin' ya.
It was a hoot and they were serious and they had 4 classes I think. A regular class---modified---twin cylinder
and modified twin cylinder.

The cool thing about lawn mower racing I was told by a guy sitting next to me in the bleechers was that
it is very inexpensive to get in to this. Most anybody can find an old lawnmower and go racing.
I really enjoyed the races and was laughing the whole time. I fall asleep watching Nascar---pretty quickly.
It's better than sleeping pills.
But I was on the edge of my seat the whole time----grinnin' from ear to ear.

So the next morning I am ready to ride.
I still got the same sprockets and chains I used on my Alaska ride
with DingWeed---those and the half used up rear tire
I put on in Fairbanks would just have to do.

My WR wasnt happy doing such a short ride----but she's my favorite ride.
The farther the better. I was constantly holding her back---whoa girl----

Still waiting for my Wolfman sponsorship----Eric ??????
He don't need to sponsor nobody---his stuff is so good---it sells itself.
He has been so good to me-----sent me some free parts to repair a bag when I stupidly left a strap hanging
and it got caught in my rear wheel.
This stuff is indestructible--got a set on my 950 also.
