Everyone's different. My wife loves to ride pillion. For one thing, she's a clutz and really doesn't drive or even ride a bike well. She's a lousy candidate for a motorcycle and I'm happier to have her on mine than her own bike. She also likes to be close to me, and hold on. For her, it's a way we spend time together, close and happy. She likes being back there, I like having her on the bike and we have a great time riding 2-up.

Plus, it saves us money. 1 bike, 1 tank of gas, 1 insurance payment.

I don't really care what other riders prefer, as long as she and I like the arrangement that's the fun of it.

Because some people LIKE riding bitch? (taking pics, navigating, etc.)

Because it's half the price of taking the car or two bikes?

Because some of us don't have control issues?

A little more body heat on cold days?

Because a fatty on the back can make 6th gear wheelies easier?

Well, I haven't ridden pillion, nor have I had a pillion, but I'd imagine such things as sharing good times with someone, who may not be so into riding, but still enjoy the experience.

-You get to share an adventure!
-You get someone to cuddle with in the sleeping bag at night
-The passenger can be on the lookout for the turn, the motel, the restaurant, the gas station, while you negotiate the traffic.
-If things start going to shit, one of you can maintain the quiet voice of reason and calm.
-If you don't have room for all of the dessert, you can share it.
-You can relax in the shade while the passenger goes from motel to motel to get the best deal.
You have got it so right. +1000000000000

In my case I am glad that my wife loves to share my favorite hobby with me. She does take pics while we are riding the back roads and trails as both of my hands are busy. It is nice to have someone to share the really cool places with. I think it makes us closer as we share alot together and to us that is what a husband and wife do share interest together.

Its definently a different kind of riding.
2-up on a dirtbike or motard is pretty aweful but for the shortest distances. No, it isn't really fun for a back road blitz type of ride either, the bike doesn't handle well, and nobody wants to kill/maim their favorite girl.

But if you go to the other end of the motorycle spectrum, some of the big touring/sporttouring bikes hardly register the weight of a pillion. Its fun to bring someone else along sometimes.

+1.... Some of my favorite riding is with my lovely wife....

Killboy takes pics like this you can hang on your wall....

When you ride 2-up to your own wedding, you know she's a keeper....

Another advantage of riding two-up is that it calms me down, because I'm thinking about more than just my life on the line if I do something stupid. It definitely tends to bring my focus back on proper riding techniques. Even though there's someone talking in my ear sometimes, (we have an Autocom) I don't get as distracted thinking of stuff and daydreaming while I ride.

You obviously just haven't found the right pillion yet. My wife and I rode about 2500 miles two-up this summer, and she was awesome. I love her, and I love riding. Mix the two, and it's almost too good to be true...

Because if you want to, just give it some gas and she'll grab you like there's no tomorrow.... That's when things start to get good!

I have many good expieriences riding 2 up.
