Glad you enjoyed it. The ride was fun, just a warm-up for a real winter ride though. Hope you guys make it up this way again before I get too old to tag along for some laughs.

Jack & Russ,

Stumbled across this while hunting something else. Wow, it's excellent with the pics. I remember the trip when it was happening, the crashes and the phone calls to me at work. And the great visit by you and Russ with me and Sharon in Dearborn, and the Transylvanian restaurant. NICE memories, great trip report.

Just found this - what a great story.
Doubles my thinking that I wimped out this AM when the temp was a balmy 15F. Or I was just to lazy to get my gear on.
Thanks for sharing.

Bluhduh Dammit!

You guys brought this RR back up again... so I was trapped into reading the whole thing once more... it is still one of the finest RRs on this site. Thanks for digging it out folks and thanks, again, to Jack for putting it here.

Cheers
Allan

Somebody blew the cobwebs of it and let it see the light of day once more.

Allan - you've spent too many years standing on your head there on the bottom side of the globe. But it's good of you to flatter an old duffer like that. Thank you for the kind words, sir.

Ive loved every word.

Thanks Alcan Rider.

I have just discovered this RR and have been captivated with your wrighting skills. This is what I am trying to plan for May this year. I live in Hamburg Germany and am a new subscriber to this site. I have just bought a motorcycle ans its parked waiting for me on the 1st of May I shall arrive in New York and pick it up. As I am thinking of doing the 4 corners trip and you have done it and was the starting point of why to read your RR. I shall most likley be starting in Madaskwa, then doing the southern states and up to Blaine. Could you please give me some idea as to costing, I plan st stop at cheap motels the whole way, Would you recomend that I bring cash or pay only with CC? If cash how much would I need?

Perhaps I might be able to come up to Alaska as well!!!

Thanks once again

Eddie

Cool stuff, ALcan Rider! You mentioned Leon earlier in the report, he's been up here to visit a few times...just wondered if you have heard from him lately?

Hr had a bit of an altercation with a deer, his last trip up.

Ouch! That had to have hurt. Hope someone got some venison in the freezer from that one.

Nope, haven't heard from Leon in quite a while. Have to see if he's still contemplating a winter ride through here some day. Hope to get down to the IBA "Pizza Party" again one of these springs and maybe run into him there... see what he's up to. A great guy.

I read this RR several years late, but still feel that I must chime in.

Alcan Rider, you have a mastery with words and storytelling that is a very rare commodity. Most people with your ability make a lot of money selling books and I would encourage you to look into doing likewise. I've read quite a few published books which I feel were not nearly as well written as this RR. I look forward to reading more from you.

Very, very well done.
