must stick up few pics now in few days,
bike is all back together now for the lats 3 weeks and been having an absolute ball on it. find i am now leaving my buddies on the sports bike miles behind me in the twisties as the front and rear are set up so well i am hitting 15mph faster than usual speeds in the bends. as for the ignition lock, made 1cmm alu plate, then once fixed in a used the metal putty to make sure its help in place. so far locks works fine, it doesnt seem as rigid as the original one but thats prob just me and nothing more. i made sure the steering locked worked just for security when kids are messing and try move it, if some on really wanted they can just twist bars on any bike and these locks break easily.

That looks great - very factory as you said. I was going to make the same plate you did for between the fender and the lower triple but when I got mine together, it didn't need it. I have fender washer's underneath though which look kinda hokey. My buddy started cutting my ign plate last night but the plate he had was just undersized so it might need to be re-done.

I would love to have CNC equipment. Instead I'm stuck in etch-a-sketch mode. ![]() Actually, once I invest in a rotary table, I think I could make that shape, with some careful layout...

Well I'm ready to roll......well almost. It seems my Spiegler brake line was crimped improperly and has developed a slight weep. I'm pleased to report however that I called Spiegler directly and they took my address and said I'd get a replacement in 3 days.
Here is the ignition plate in final mockup: ![]() I did have to switch the top triple to the one I had designed off of. Apparently Yamaha has more than one casting of this part. The one shown completely covers the threads of the pinch bolts. On my other triple, the bolts stick out a few threads, therefore the plate does not fit snugly up to the casting. Here is the way it came out: ![]() and while I'm at it, check out my alternative to a "tool-tube" for the non-exhaust side. I have a small duffel with extra fuel and oil I can stuff in there: ![]() I also finished my locks on my luggage. The pad locks used to bang around and couldn't be unlocked with one hand. These are sliding glass door locks - all four keyed alike - that pass through the butterfly hasps. Not super secure, but a deterrent nonetheless. ![]()

Your ignition plate is a thing of beauty.
and this lock idea is a great one. I'm gonna steal it.
