Question for all of those who have done this conversion: Who in the SF/Bay Area would be a good resource where to have this work done? I read somewhere about a kit being offered by an inmate but do not know if it ever came to fruition.

If you have done it, could you pm me a parts list that you have used? I have access to a machine shop as well if needed. I did find a set of 2004 Yahama YZ450F front fork suspension that I would get if these are the correct diameter. Could anyone list or pm me the parts needed for a complete front end transplant? I want to make sure to have everything before taking it in to get the project done. Thanks Tessitori screwed with this post 05-06-2012 at 08:59 PM |

All the best for your fork swap. there wonderful inmates in advriders who help me with my swap thru emails..
Parx400, GSBS, Benjah and many more.. took me about 2 hrs to do it at a public carpark... No man castle.. ![]() spent another 6 hours to change shock, domino throttle, abs removal... It not as hard as it looks.. Btw can anybody tell me which fork guards is compatible with the 426 fork. I going for the cr brake route and would like to use the newer fork guards without the guides. Thanks |

Did you change your throttle out? Pics of that if you did. I'm putting a Magura 312 on mine soon.

domino throttle
Quote:
i totally change the whole handlebar controls. aftermarket light/turn/horn switch, msr clutch perch, yz brake pump and perch clamp e button. i solder the kill switch wire... For the domino throttle, i purchase the single pull single cable type. it fits in without issues I put in a slotted barrel nipple at the end of the cable. there is a little slack but i can live with it. I am compiling the whole process with pics and will email to wayne. pm your email and i will email you too. Btw i really appreciate your help and inmates from advriders... My conversion is the first in my country

I just talked to Richard last week. Try calling or emailing again. He responded to me right away.

I am beyond frustrated. Richard promised they would be finished before the move. I have given him plenty of time to get moved in. I have emailed once or twice a week with no response.

Reality Check - help wanted
First of all this forum is just great, so much great ideas and inmates here!
Since purchasing my new-to-me 2002 F560GS with 17K miles, I have read all about the issues with the flanges of the pre 2003 forks. After reading that thread I slowly started reading through this thread ... Wow, information overload! Here are my two questions: For someone that wants to improve the handling of the bike and who will not be doing any single track riding for at least 1 year is this modification/swap an overkill? If you do agree that it is NOT overkill, for someone that will be doing most paved road riding for the next year should I loose the ABS or keep it? Regards, Andrew |
