i found a front forks set from a 2006 cr250 forks triple etc. as well as an entire wheel.

would this mount up directly with no problems just as well as the 04 yz250f set i found?

Not sure about that but just wanted to say that there's a hell of info about mounting the yz forks but none( that I can find) for the CRF's.. Personally I'd hold out for yz forks as there are most likely hundreds of satisfied customers using them on the f650. Me included.

On the other hand, if your up for the challenge of being a fork pioneer then good on you.

check this thread out. and this one:

Good places to start. I believe these forks have adjustable comp and rebound. You may need stiffer springs, but that's par for the course with the yz stuff, if I am correct. I think it'll work. Find a local(ish) shop that does suspension, or go with a recommendation here.

CRF450 Triples

Hi Racegirl,

Not sure if this helps but:

Used 2004 CRF450 Triples (same as the 250 for that year) in my Dakar conversion but used 46mm Ohlins. I am going to to machine a different top nut arrangement (I have all the machinery) but the STD Honda bits worked well enough.

7000km's from home at the moment so can't give you any more details apart form a bad photo.

If so, how do you like it? Does it fit your Dakar well? I've used my Coyote (which works very well for my WR-R) on the Dakar but it seems a bit small for the width of the BMW. Would like to hear your impressions before buying one.

Thanks!

I use one on mine..., bit of a luv/hate relationship. Luv the ease of getting on/off and no racks, made bloody tough but hate that it's not rain proof even with seam sealing and the zipper is hard to close most of the time.

Yeah, I've used it on mine, but it's a much better fit on my smaller, narrower WR-R. And when I'm on the Dakar it's usually for longer trips so I want to carry more without piling a lot of stuff in a tail bag on the back.

Looks like you're positioning your Coyote a good bit higher on the bike and it wraps to the front more than mine, which I tie off to the passenger pegs.

Thanks for the photo though!
