From the same era here is one from a real lady adventurer also on a Bantam.
Last summer I read the reprint of her book on this trip. It is a good read.

And then, a few years later, in 1954 another Brittish lady, Brenda Collins made a similar trip with her Bantam;

Love the lady with the Airedale! We've just ordered the book.

Here's a story worth reading, Marjorie Cottle, ISDT rider.

That ad was done by Cooper Motors, the West coast importer in 1965 or 66. Gray International was the Eastern importer and was in Detroit. I worked part time for the owner uncrating and assembling bikes he retailed directly.

I have a friend who raced Maicos from the 1950s through the 1980s, and he still has two 501s, one of which is still in the crate.

Lots of cool vintage bikes in this thread so far.

Some pics I found on the net. At this point, any pic is a possible re-post, but lord knows we've seen enough of those in this thread.

Apologies, my friend, but I have no link for that ad. I posted that pic quite a while ago, and I'm sure I just lifted it from some motoblog, so I have absolutely no idea where exactly I found it.
