The same way teams from the NFL, NBA, MLB, NCAA Basketball, etc, don't have to be the conference champ to be crowned the League Champ. For example, in 2007, the NY Giants were the second place team in the NFC East, but beat the undefeated Patriots in the Super Bowl.

Does it ever work that the Super Bowl champ wan't the best team in their conference? The NCAA Basketball champ? College World Series champ?

All those sports have playoffs, the talking heads always tell us the "regular season is the playoff" in college football.

Complaining about Bama being there is just an excuse though, LSU got beat plain and simple. Just DWI and move on. Bama was the clear #2 when the selection was made.

The NCAA basketball champs and the NCAA World Series champs have something that Alabama doesnt have. Something no college football champ has ever had: An NCAA title.

Think about it. For decades, the college football champ was crowned by the Associated Press. Now they're crowned by the BCS. The NCAA has NEVER crowned a football champ. Ever. All those other collegiate winners hold up an NCAA trophy at the end of the year. Not football though. They hold up a trophy from an outside organization.

You might not think that's a big deal, but I for one don't recognize Alabama as the NCAA football champs. Cuz they're not. We need a playoff.

The NCAA does recognize the BCS championship, but it's not official. There are multiple champions every year, even when there is no controversy. LSU was named champs of this year in at least one of the computer polls. That is recognized by the NCAA, technically LSU could call themselves the champs, but LSU doesn't do that. Alabama on the other hand has no problem recognizing any championship that doesn't make sense in football.

That dude was freakin epic. I heard he is working at a bank near Bryant Denny. Sucks that happened to him.

Alabama isn't the only one who does it though, I know Tennessee does it too. It's just the MNC game still stings and it's fun to make fun of them for it.

Just a question...

...and it really has nothing to do with Alabama.

"Why aren't there more young women of color playing college softball?" As we all know by watching women's basketball and track, there are very able black female athletes, and I'm just wondering why they are underrepresented in softball. Anyone?

I normally love sparring with you, but this is the third rail of sports threads.

There's a professional women's basketball league.
IF your best sport is basketball, what sport will you play in college?

On the other hand...

Roll Tide.

I had no intention of sparing, just asking a question. I also doubt that having a women's pro BB league influences any sports decision for women. I'm just curious, as I know that there have been some outstanding players, just not that many of them.
